Just for a minute it looked like Nick Petrangelo might be able to move up a spot as the other shorties pushed from time to time as well. Eventually, it wasn't meant to be it seemed as they got no callers, and Petrangelo did.
He shoved his last couple of big blinds in under the gun. Action folded to David Peters in the big blind who didn't even need a count.
Nick Petrangelo:
David Peters,
The flop brought some chop outs, but the on the turn evaporated those. The on the river did indeed pair the board but the ten kicker played for Peters.
Nick Petrangelo finishes 6th in the €10,000 High Roller for €139,000. At the start of the EPT Malta festival he already finished 4th in the €25,000 High Roller for €205,900. Not a bad week in Malta for the man from the United States. The remaining five players are guaranteed €183,800.
After a very colorful performance we've just lost Charles Carrel, as the David Peters steam train keeps on rolling.
The action folded to Peters on the button who moved all in to put both blinds under pressure. Carrel looked down at his cards and called right away for about 1.2 million total, and Artem Metalidi folded his cards.

Carrel:
The board ran out and Carrel was sent to the rail as Peters hit a winning pair of eights. Just four players remain right now and Peters has almost half the chips in play.
With two shorties in there, the two big stacks don't want to budge heads too much in most cases. Just now, the two bigger stacks did clash. A little.
David Peters opened under the gun (or the cutoff, depends how you look at it) for 170,000. The button and small blind folded, Ivan Luca in the big blind made the call.
Luca check called a bet of 180,000 on and 365,000 on the turn. The on the river made Luca check a third time. Peters thought for some time before eventually checking behind.
Ivan Luca raised from the small blind to 195,000 and David Peters called from the big blind. The flop came down and Luca lead out for 235,000. Peters made the call and on the turn the hit.
Luca and Peters both checked and the river was the .
This time Luca bet 520,000 and Peters folded his cards rather quickly.
Ivan Luca opened the small blind to 160,000 and David Peters in the big blind made the call.
Luca made a bet of 420,000 on and Peters called. Both players checked the on the turn and the completed the board. Luca checked and Peters bet 630,000 after some tanking.
Luca tanked for a good 8 minutes before Viacheslav Goryachev called the clock. The last time the clock was called on Luca, he pulled off one of the biggest bluffs of the tournament.
This time around, not so much. Luca folded and left the big pot to Peters after a hand that took almost 17 minutes.
Things have slowed down considerably. Viacheslav Goryachev is down to six blinds and Artem Metalidi succesfully reshoved on Ivan Luca. Nothing else really happened, it's small pots we're seeing for now.
David Peters raised from the button to 200,000 and Viacheslav Goryachev moved all in from the big blind for 375,000 total. Peters called right away and the showdown went as following.
Ivan Luca opened under the gun and David Peters and Artem Metalidi folded. Viacheslav Goryachev made the call from the big blind with 545,000 behind.
The flop came and Goryachev checked. Luca shoved all in and Goryachev instantly called.
Ivan Luca:
Viacheslav Goryachev:
The on the turn was one of the better cards for Luca, but the on the river wasn't one he was looking for. Two pair versus two pair, double up for Goryachev.
