€5,300 Main Event

Dia 1b Começado

Welcome to Day 1b of the PokerStars.fr EPT 11 Deauville

Casino Barrière de Deauville
Casino Barrière de Deauville

The second starting day of the €5,300 PokerStars.fr EPT 11 Deauville Main Event gets underway at 12 pm local time and the overall participation at the Casino Barrière de Deauville is expected to be much higher than the 199 entries of Day 1a.

Same as yesterday, it is scheduled to play eight 75-minute levels including a dinner break of 75 minutes after the end of level six. Nathan Gozlan is leading the 108 survivors thus far after accumulating 148,500 chips on Day 1a.

Several other Side Events determined their winners yesterday as well. Dutch student Tim van Leeuwen won the €300 Deauville Cup for €62,400 after emerging victorious in a field of 1,210 entries.

Anthony Apicella defeated PokerStars qualifier Felix Lambertz in the €1,100 FPS Deauville Main Event after overcoming a 1,355-strong field, good for a payday of € 197,000. Ivan "Negriin" Luca finished fourth and we will most definitely see the Argentinian back at the tables today, defending champion Sotirios Koutoupas is also due to join us for Day 1b. EPT 10 Deauville runner-up and Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov already played on Day 1a and advanced with 16,000 chips.

Bagging and tagging should occur around midnight and the PokerNews.com live reporting team will be there to cover all key moments, so tune back in often. Below is the blind structure for today:

Stacks In Play

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

The tournament director has announced that stacks for seats 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 are now in play. If you have a seat assignment for one of those you will be paying the blinds.

This was followed by a reminder that during a hand it is English only at the table as per the EPT rules.

Bielskis Cuts Chetrit in Half

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Lithuanian Andrius Bielskis is off to a remarkable start early in the first level of play. We recently witnessed a hand where he cut the stack of France's Michael Chetrit in half.

With more than 7,000 already in the middle, Chetrit and Bielskis looked down at a board of {Q-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Chetrit had first action and he flung out a bet of 5,050. Bielskis waited for only a brief moment before reaching for calling chips.

The river was the {5-Spades} and Chetrit slowed with a check. Bielskis tossed out a single 5,000 chip and found a quick call from Chetrit. Bielskis confidently rolled over {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for a flopped set of sixes. Chetrit stopped in his tracks, gave his head a small shake, and flung {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} at the muck face up. Bielskis was awarded the pot and now has about 49,000 to his name.

5,000!

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

The 5,000 chips are the biggest chips in play. Literally, because they are bigger than the other chips.

Just now we spotted one on the ground. We notified a dealer, who notified floor Luca Vivaldi.

Luca went on to investigate and found a dead stack worth 25,000, which should be 30,000. Case closed.

Teichert Fires Twice

Nikolaus Teichert raised to 300 and got called by the player in the big blind to see the flop of {10-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {5-Spades}. Teichert fired 300 and was called before making it another 500 to go after the {9-Spades} turn. Once again the opponent called and Teichert than checked behind the {A-Spades} river. The player in the small blind showed {K-Hearts} {J-Spades} for a straight and the World Series of Poker bracelet winner from Germany mucked.

Early Pot For Nassif

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

In the early stages of a tournament the pots are generally small as players feel each other out and get into their stride, not wanting to take too many risks with their stack. Occasionally though there is an interesting hand that isn’t necessarily about what cards the players are holding.

There was an open to 300 from a mid-position player and PokerStars Team Online pro Gabriel Nassif made the call as did the player in the big blind.

The flop was {2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and the initial raiser made it 725. Nassif made the call and the big blind then folded. The turn card {7-Hearts} saw a further call from Nassif, this time the bet went up to 1,500. The river card {a-Spades} completed the board and now the initial raiser checked. Nassif gave it a few moments thought before taking 2,000 from his stack and making the wager. His opponent let his hand go and Nassif took the pot.

The cards remained unseen but Nasif no doubt gathered vital early information on his opponent as well as a welcome early pot.
