Unlike the 2023 version of this event, the bubble burst in just three short hands, instead of three full hours. Govert Metaal was unfortunate to be the last to walk away with nothing after doubling up David Coleman just a few hands prior. He was then short-stacked and his last two big blinds went in three ways where he ended up busting to Stanislav Zegal.

As mentioned, the returning players from Day 1 were joined by many fresh faces who opted to take advantage of late registration. Notable names who joined the festivities at the last minute included Matthew Wantman, EPT Champion Artur Martirosian, Conor Beresford. However, all three of them missed out on the money.

Maria Konnikova

Multiple players were also representing PokerStars. The likes of Ramon Colillas, Maria Konnikova, Elias Gutierrez, Fintan Hand, with both Gutierrez and Konnikova reaching the money but falling short of Day 3. Konnikova was eliminated with levels of play to go as she shoved her last six big blinds with ace-five, and couldn’t defeat the pocket sixes of Klemens Roiter. While Gutierrez ran his pocket tens into the pocket queens of Ylitalo.

Chris Dowling

Irish Open Ambassador Chris Dowling, who ranks 21st on Ireland's all-time money list also made it into the money, finishing in 67th place for €17,950 as he ran into pocket kings in his final hand.

Among the many notables who managed to earn a Day 3 seat were Alex Keating (1,305,000), Joao Vieira (1,300,000), Canada's Timothy Adams (635,000), Ben Heath (365,000), Frances's own Alexandre Reard (390,000) to name a few.

At the completion of level 21 on Day 2, only 34 players remained. Day 3 kicks off at 12:00 p.m. local time on Sunday, February 25th. Those players have all locked up a minimum payday of €23,750.

As always, be sure to keep locked in with PokerNews to discover this thrilling event's conclusion.
