Joris Ruijs Ready for the Hunt After Dominating Day 1 of €10,200 Mystery Bounty

Nível 8 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Joris Ruijs
Joris Ruijs

During the first day of the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Paris, 71 entries were made on Day 1 of the €10,200 Mystery Bounty. At the end of the eight levels of play, 46 of them still had chips and will return to Le Palais des Congrès in the heart of Paris tomorrow for Day 2. The expectation is that they will be joined by many more, as late registration will be open throughout the first two levels of Day 2.

The new faces will have a tough time catching up to Joris Ruijs, however. The Dutchman accumulated 405,500 chips on Day 1, being the only player to end up with more than four starting stacks. He will not be the only one with more than 100 big blinds at their disposal at the start of Day 2, however, as four other players also accomplished that feat.

Sergi Reixach ended up Ruijs' nearest contender with a stack of 375,000, while Jeremie Zouari completes the podium with 358,000 chips in his bag. The final two players in the top five are Mario Navarro (353,500) and Michel Molenaar. Other notable names in the top ten include Chinese regular Quan Zhou (251,000) and France's all-time money list leader Jean-Noel Thorel (235,000).

Plenty of other high-stakes regulars found bags as well, including Orpen Kisacikoglu (209,000), Mike Watson (154,500), Chris Brewer (141,000), and Niklas Astedt (136,000).

These players will have to hold off hunting bounties for a little longer, however, as they will come into play only at the start of Level 13, the fifth level of Day 2. Before then, the €333,700 collected cash prize pool, as well as the €355,000 bounty prize pool, will have plenty of room to grow as the option to enter or make use of a single re-entry, for those who have not done so already, are still open for two more levels on Day 2.

Day 2 will kick off on Thursday, February 15 at 12:30 p.m. local time. All levels will remain 30 minutes in length, and the tournament will play down to a winner. The prize pool, payout, and bounty information will be confirmed when late registration closes at the start of Level 11 and will be posted once they are announced.

So stay tuned to PokerNews to not miss any of the thrilling bounty action, and do not forget to check out the EPT Paris coverage hub to check on the other tournaments happening in the French capital.

Reixach Puts Chamas In the Tank

Nível 8 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Sergi Reixach
Sergi Reixach

Sergi Reixach raised to 5,000 from the cutoff and Rayan Chamas defended his big blind. On the 437 flop, Chamas led out for 3,500, which Reixach raised to 10,500.

That was not enough for Chamas, however, who reraised to 20,000. Reixach tossed in a call, leading to the 7 turn being dealt. Chamas sized down to 13,000, and another call followed from Reixach.

Chamas slowed down and checked the 2 river, after which Reixach tanked for a while before putting in 68,000 chips, leaving himself just 1,000 back. Chamas took his time to think things over, but after several minutes in the tank he reluctantly put in the call.

Reixach tabled A7 for trip sevens, and Chamas could only nod his head as his cards hit the muck. He would be left with just under ten big blinds, which were lost not much later as well.

Nível 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Marcelo Bonanata
Marcelo Bonanata

Marcelo Bonanata under the gun and Jon Ander Vallinas in the big blind had created a pot of 21,500 when all the chips went in the middle on a board of K3J4. Bonanata was the at-risk player with a stack of 89,500 as the cards hit the felt.

Marcelo Bonanata: AK
Jon Ander Vallinas: J3

Bonanata flopped top pair, but it was second best behind the two pair of Vallinas. The K river upgraded him to trips, however, resulting in his victory and double-up.

Teun Mulder
Teun Mulder

After some preflop raises, Teun Mulder's stack of 91,000 chips landed in the middle from under the gun, and he was looked up by Daniel Dvoress in the small blind.

Teun Mulder: JJ
Daniel Dvoress: QQ

It was looking like Mulder's second bullet would go up in flames on the 910A board, but the J turn saw him turn a set to take the lead.

Dvoress did not hit his straight draw nor did he river a set when the 10 completed the board, resulting in a double-up for Mulder.

Ogita Extends Lead as Lemonnier Shoves to His Demise

Nível 5 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Daisuke Ogita
Daisuke Ogita

Jakob Miegel raised to 4,000 from early position, after which Daisuke Ogita three-bet to 9,500. The action then folded to Morgan Lemonnier in the big blind, who reraised to 26,000.

Miegel quickly got out of the way, but Ogita stuck around with a call. The 455 flop was spread, on which Lemonnier fiddled some with his chips before deciding to put them all in.

Ogita asked for a count, and after he heard the total was 72,000, he stuck in a call to put his opponent at risk.

Morgan Lemonnier: AK
Daisuke Ogita: KQ

Lemonnier still had the best hand, but the J turn saw Ogita hit his flush. No fourth heart came on the board on the 7 river, spelling the end for Lemonnier's first bullet.

Daisuke Ogita
Daisuke Ogita

Daisuke Ogita and Yauheni Tsiareshchanka were heads up on a turn of 5Q65. Ogita sat in the big blind and made a bet of 14,000 into the pot of 25,000 chips. Tsiareshchanka put in the call and the two went off to the 7 river.

Ogita threw 29,500 more in the middle, around half the stack of Tsiareshchanka. Tsiareshchanka thought it over for a good while before tossing in a calling chip, after which Ogita tabled AK for the nut flush.

Tsiareshchanka could not beat that hand as his cards disappeared in the muck, leaving him with 20 big blinds.

Greenwood Puts Thorel to the Test

Nível 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

With the A exposed as the burn card, Sam Greenwood raised to 3,000 from the hijack and Jean-Noel Thorel put out a three-bet to 8,000 from the cutoff. The action then folded back to Greenwood, who obliged with a call.

On the 64K flop, Greenwood check-called Thorel's continuation-bet of 10,000 before the J turn went check-check.

Greenwood tossed in two T-25,000 chips in the middle when the Q river arrived, enough to cover Thorel's remaining stack of 40,000. The French poker legend tanked for a short while, but ultimately elected to muck his hand and save his final chips.

Since its introduction in 2022, the €10,200 Mystery Bounty event has been a staple on European Poker Tour stops around the continent.
