Day 1b of the €1,100 France Poker Series (FPS) Paris Main Event has been played to its conclusion here at the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris with Boris Angelov emerging as the leader after bagging 404,000 in chips.
Angelov has just over $150,000 in live-tournament earnings with his biggest cash coming back in 2021, wherein he placed 40th in the WSOPE Main Event for $34,869. Just behind Angelov is Nicklas Dehli (403,000), who was the only other player to bag over 400,000 in chips.
Also bagging big was Daniel Rezaei, who managed to secure 279,000 heading into Day 2. The Austrian poker pro will be looking to add to his over $3 million in live-tournament earnings as he chases his first EPT title.

Day 1b got underway with 27 players and by the time late registration ended, a total of 167 entrants had joined the fray. Of those, 25 earned a Day-2 berth and made the money. The exact amount of a min-cash will be determined after all starting flights have been completed.
The Day 2 bubble burst at the start of Level 18 after Reiji Kono shoved his short stack with king-trey and lost out to Humberto Lopes Galindo's ten-four.
Other notables who made it to Day 2 include Marcello Miniucchi (191,000), Cecile Ticherfatine (180,000), Pokerstars ambassador Felix Schneiders (151,000), and Maria Lampropulos (65,000).
Less fortunate players who fell short of the money include Benny Glaser, PokerStars ambassador Benjamin Spragg, Daniel Smiljkovic, Jose Manuel Gonzalez, and Jon Kyte, who was eliminated by Julien Groenendijk after shoving with a wheel draw and failing to improve late in the day.
Any players who didn't make it to Day 2 still have multiple chances as there are still four starting flights left. The next starting flight is Day 1c, which will begin at noon local time on Thursday, February 15. Day 2 will commence on February 17.

The remaining 25 players are now bagging and tagging for the evening with 24:39 remaining on the clock for Level 18.
Stay tuned for a recap of Day 1b.
Just as hand-for-hand play was announced, Reiji Kono shoved for his remaining short stack from the cutoff and was called by Humberto Lopes Galindo in the big blind to put Kono at risk.
Reiji Kono: K♦3♦
Humberto Lopes Galindo: 10♣4♦
Kono was a favorite to double up, but the 10♥Q♥Q♠4♥Q♦ runout improved Galindo to a full house — eliminating Kono just shy of the money and ending play for the day.

Gergely Rona opened to 40,000 from middle position and action was folded to Julien Groenendijk in the big blind, who moved all in, putting Rona at risk if he made the call. After some thought, Rona put the rest of his chips in the middle, around 100,000 in total.
Gergely Rona: 8♣8♠
Julien Groenendijk: A♦Q♦
Rona was ahead with a pair of eights in a race, but the A♠K♣2♠ flop left him drawing thin.
The K♠ turn reignited some hope, with Rona now holding a flush draw, but the 4♥ river was a brick and sent him to the rail just before the conclusion of Day 1b.

Boris Angelov opened to 12,000 from middle position and was called by Nicolai Ejstrud in the cutoff.
Ejstrud called a 16,000 bet from Angelov on the 10♥J♠Q♥ flop and a 42,000 bet from Angelov on the 4♣ turn.
The 3♦ completed the board and Angelov announced he was all in, which was enough to put Ejstrud all in for his last 130,000.
Ejstrud went deep into the tank, but eventually opted to lay his hand down and Angelov collected the pot without showing.

Maria Lampropulos opened to 12,000 in early position, only to be faced with a three-bet to 40,000 from Marcello Miniucchi.
Julien Dupre was next to act, and after confirming the raise size and giving the matter some thought, he reached for chips and produced a cold four-bet all-in jam for around 200,000, leading to swift folds from both his opponents.

Action was picked up on a flop of 8♥K♣J♣ where Gonzalo Arias bet 12,000 from the hijack. Dinesh Alt made the call on the button.
Arias fired the 10♠ for 40,000 and Alt called again. The river Q♥ drew a check from Arias, and Alt tanked for a moment before checking back.
Arias showed A♦Q♠ for the nut straight and Alt mucked his holding.
