Dia 1 Começado
Now that the majority of the world's best poker players have made their way to the French capital for the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris, it's time for the largest buy-in event of the festival with the €50,000 EPT Super High Roller kicking off today at 12:30 p.m. local time.
There have been a few high-stakes events that have already taken place including the €10,200 Mystery Bounty that was won by Andre Marques, followed up by two €25,000 single-day high rollers that were bested by Chris Brewer and Teun Mulder. The payouts have been spread evenly amongst the players over the last couple of days, with not a single player reaching the money on multiple occasions.
The Dutchman is coming off an extraordinary performance last night, where he single-handedly eliminated the final six players in a matter of minutes. The fields have been great according to some of the players, and the field sizes have been nothing short of expectations. That isn't expected to change today when the cards go in the air with millions of euros up for grabs.
This three-day event will be a single reentry format due to French gambling regulations implemented throughout the week. A starting stack will be worth 250,000 chips, with the blinds starting out at 500/1,000 and a 1,000 big blind ante. The levels will be 60 minutes in length, with a 15-minute break after every two levels. Eight levels are scheduled for Day 1, with no dinner break on the menu.
Late registration will remain open until the start of Day 2, which will begin at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow. The shot clock will be in play from the start of the tournament with 20 seconds to act preflop and 30 seconds on each street thereafter. Every new entry will receive four time banks plus an additional one after each level. In addition, every player in their seat at the start of play will receive half of the registration fee refunded to them.
The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the live updates throughout the next few days en route to crowning a new EPT Super High Roller champion.
