Walenta Loses a Chunk to Pardo

Nível 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Some 9,500 chips were in the middle to a flop of {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} between Piotr Walenta and Juan Pardo. The former then opted to bet 2,500 only for Pardo to go into the tank and raise it up to 8,500. Walenta gave it some thought for 30 seconds, double-checked his cards and silently sent them into the muck.

Pieter Theelen
Pieter Theelen

Break one record, that's good going. Break two in the space of a couple of days — that's something special.

The ever-popular Eureka Main Event and Eureka High Roller both crowned champions yesterday, with PokerNews on hand to pick up all the action.

Dutchman Pieter Theelen nursed his short stack to victory in the €1,100 Main Event, taking home €496,760 while Sander Ostlyngen took home €463,850 after winning the €2,200 High Roller.

D'Angelo Cannot Fold Aces; Beats Mugulov in Large Pot

Nível 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante
Daniele D'Angelo
Daniele D'Angelo

Daniele D'Angelo raised to 300 and was three-bet to 1,100 by Stefan Nemetz, which Mehdi El Meray and Emin Mugulov called. The action got back to D'Angelo and he bumped it up to 5,800. Only Mugulov stuck around and check-called a bet worth 3,600 on the {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop.

Both players checked the {q-Spades} turn and the {2-Diamonds} river paired the board for a second time. Mugulov now bet 8,500 and D'Angelo instantly sighed an "can I fold the aces? Hummm ...". One minute later, the Italian called and Mugulov tabled the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}, which D'Angelo had beat with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}.

This is Newey's House

Nível 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante
Paul Newey
Paul Newey

After a raising war preflop, Samuiel Stan and Paul Newey saw a flop of {9-Spades}{j-Spades}{6-Spades} with 2,700 already in the middle.

Newey checked from the small blind and put out a continuation-bet of 800, which Newey called.

The {9-Diamonds} turn paired the board and both players elected to check.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and this time, Newey took the lead with a bet of 2,800. Stan took his time before calling and got the bad news as Newey flipped {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for a full house.

The second flight of the 2022 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague €5,300 Main Event, at the Hilton Hotel in Prague, will kick off at noon today and is the final EPT Main Event Day 1 of 2022.

Day 1a saw a total of 402 players whittled down to 124 after ten hours of play with some notable names finding bags. Spain's Javier Gomez Zapater leads the pack, bagging up an impressive 341,000 chips to take into battle on Day 2 and is closely followed in the counts by another Spaniard, PokerStars Ambassador Ramon Colillas who is the only other stack over 300,000.

The top ten is a who's who of poker alumni and features two players that went agonisingly close at the last EPT stop in London only a few months ago.

Frenchman Julien Sitbon placed 23rd in EPT London and sits fifth on the leaderboard after the first day's play. Another player looking to go one better than London is Conor Beresford from the United Kingdom. Beresford had an impressive haul in London finishing second in the UKIPT £2,200 High Roller for £145,120 and 31st in the EPT London £5,300 Main Event for £17,050 and sits ninth in chips after Day 1a.

All participants receive 30,000 in chips and will aim to make it through the entire ten levels of 60 minutes each. There is a scheduled 15-minute break every two levels and a 75-minute dinner break after Level 6. The late registration period for the 2022 EPT Prague €5,300 Main Event remains open until the start of Day 2 on December 14, 2022, and a maximum of two entries per player are allowed.

Stay tuned as the PokerNews live reporting team brings you all the updates throughout the Main Event and festival from a very snowy Prague.
