The 2022 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague festival has officially commenced at the King's Casino Prague. Four tournaments were listed for the first day of the popular series in the Czech capital and the most expensive tournament was Event #3: €10,200 Mystery Bounty.

Upon completion of eight levels of 30 minutes each, a cash prize pool of €244,400 has been created thanks to 52 entries. The slightly bigger slice of €260,000 is allocated for the Mystery Bounty portion and all cash prizes are still up for grabs. The field was whittled down to 32 survivors.

Brazil's Rodrigo Seiji Sirichuk finished atop the leaderboard with a stack of 370,500, followed by Sam Greenwood (310,000), Jorryt van Hoof (293,500), Jamil Wakil (292,000) and Mark Hammond. Greenwood and Wakil were among the nine players who opted to take advantage of the single re-entry option and did so successfully as they finished inside the top five.

Seiji was the first player to win an EPT Mystery Bounty tournament at this very venue earlier in 2022 during the rescheduled 2021 EPT Prague festival. He took down a €2,700 buy-in after coming out on top of a 655-entry strong field and will be aiming to add another PokerStars spadie trophy to his collection. Juan Pardo (208,000) and Jean-Noel Thorel (195,000) also advanced with healthy stacks and will aim to win the €10,200 buy-in version of this tournament for the second time in the fourth edition.

Among a slate of well-known high-stakes regulars to make it through Day 1 were also Steve O'Dwyer, recent WSOP Europe bracelet winner Orpen Kisacikoglu, Juha Helppi, Conor Beresford, Adrian Mateos, and Daniel Dvoress. Not as fortunate were Mike Watson, Gab Yong Kim, Motoyoshi Okamura, Dawid Smolka and Yasuhiro Waki as both ran out of chips once. Santhosh Suvarna and Ondrej Goetz were the only two players to exhaust two entries already and won't be eligible top buy into the tournament anymore.

Thailand's Phachara Wongwichit was also among the late casualties after he lost all but a single chip with a bluff against Hwany Lee. Waki was among the early chip leaders only to see his fortune turn around swiftly. Within two hands, Waki lost his entire stack to Greenwood when he first ran kings into aces and then couldn't beat trips queens of the Canadian.

2022 EPT Monte-Carlo Mystery Bounty winner Thorel joined the big stacks after earning two knockouts in very short succession. Especially the clash with Paul Newey was a memorable one when he spiked a very fortunate river to eliminate his opponent.

However, neither knockout for the French businessman was worth any cash prize yet as the drawings for the Mystery Bounty prizes only commence as of level 13 after the first break on Day 2. By then, the late registration will have closed by 1.30 pm local time in the main tournament room at King's Casino Prague.

The second and final day of the first High Roller event here at 2022 PokerStars EPT Prague gets underway at 12.30 pm local time. Two levels remain for players to join the action and the blinds recommence at 1,500-3,000 with a big blind ante of 3,000.

Stay tuned to find out right here on PokerNews who earns the biggest bounty prizes and a portion of the cash prize pool.

Namhyung Kim

Orpen Kisacikoglu was all-in with a severe short stack and Ondrej Goetz pushed all-in for around 60,000 on the button. Namhyung Kim in the big blind glanced at his cards and then instantly called.

Orpen Kisacikoglu: {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Ondrej Goetz: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Namhyung Kim: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} board improved Kim to the superior pair and he sent two players to the rail.

Suvarna Left With Fumes; Doubles After

Nível 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Santhosh Suvarna
Santhosh Suvarna

Adrian Mateos was all-in for a mere 30,000 and Santhosh Suvarna committed his last 36,500 as well. Petr Svoboda was in the tank after he had invested 5,000 and then folded.

Adrian Mateos: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Santhosh Suvarna: {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The kicker played on the {j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} runout and Svoboda was not happy by any means.

One hand later, Suvarna was all-in preflop and received two callers. Pavel Binar bet the {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop to isolate and the showdown commenced.

Santhosh Suvarna: {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Pavel Binar: {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}

The {7-Clubs} kept Binar in the lead but Suarna spiked the {6-Spades} river to survive.

Greenwood Takes the Lead After Ousting Waki

Nível 6 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Sam Greenwood

Yasuhiro Waki tapped the table in defeat when he came out second-best in the largest pot of the tournament so far. On a board of {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} of Sam Greenwood were good enough for trips queens with the ace kicker and dealer briefly exposed the cards of Waki for what appeared to be {j-}{10-}.

"Nice hand," he said on the way out and Greenwood was then moved tables to balance the shrinking field.

Motoyoshi Okamura and Mike Watson became the next two casualties shortly thereafter.

Thorel Also Knocks Out Newey

Jean-Noel Thorel

With 85,000 in the pot to the {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} turn, Paul Newey checked out of the small blind. Jean-Noel Thorel instantly pushed all-in and Newey asked for a count. The shove by the French businessman was for 75,000 and Newey took some ten seconds before calling.

Paul Newey: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Jean-Noel Thorel: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The {k-Diamonds} river improved Thorel to a full house and Newey's stack was counted. He had 74,500 at his disposal and was subsequently knocked out, as Newey gasped a "wow" before heading out of the tournament room.

On the river of a {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} board, Sam Greenwood checked out of the small blind. Jorryt van Hoof bet 45,000 on the button and that sent Greenwood deep into the tank. He invested two time banks and then called but mucked when he was shown the {a-Spades}{k-Spades} by the Dutchman.

Wakil Missing; Kisacikoglu Gets a Shove Through

Nível 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Alex Peffly
Alex Peffly

There was already one casualty in the tournament and that is not Orpen Kisacikoglu, as he was balanced tables to make up for short-handed action. According to floor staff, Alex Peffly had hit a straight and flush draw with {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} to dispatch Wakil and then also took on Kisacikoglu shortly after.

On a {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, Kisacikoglu check-shoved for 30,000 into a bet of 4,000 and Peffly sighed. "I don't have much," the Brit said and opted to fold. While collecting the pot, Kisacikoglu replied "I don't have much either" without revealing his cards.

Early Double for Waki Against Kisacikoglu

Nível 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Yasuhiro Waki
Yasuhiro Waki

The action on the {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} turn brought a bet of 10,000 by Yasuhiro Waki in the small blind. Orpen Kisacikoglu then raised to 24,000 from under the gun and Waki called. That led them to the {5-Clubs} river and Waki jammed for the 48,000 he had behind.

Kisacikoglu instantly sighed and then called within the allotted 30-second shot clock. Waki tabled the {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for kings and fives as Kisacikoglu's {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} were no longer the best hand.

Welcome to the 2022 EPT Prague €10,200 Mystery Bounty Event

Mystery Bounty
Mystery Bounty

The live poker action in 2022 concludes with one of the most popular stops in Europe as the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) returns to Prague for the annual showdown prior to the Christmas festivities. From December 7 to 18, 2022, the King's Casino Prague hosts the flagship live poker series of the global stalwart once more.

To kick the poker activities off in the capital of the Czech Republic, high-stakes crushers from all over the world can test their skills in Event #3: €10,200 Mystery Bounty which gets underway at 7pm local time. This two-day event is set to determine a winner the following day and will conclude four sets of duplicate levels to finish before 11pm local time.

This will be the fourth time the five-figure buy-in determines a champion and the tournament is set to become a fixture of the high-stakes schedule during the EPT festivals. The latest craze in the world of live poker debuted during the rescheduled 2021 EPT Prague festival which took place in March 2022. Brazil's Rodrigo Seiji Sirichuk came out on top of a 655-entry strong field in a €2,700 buy-in after defeating Ian Hamilton in heads-up.

Only a few weeks later during the 2022 EPT Monte-Carlo festival, the €10,200 edition took place for the first time. French businessman Jean-Noel Thorel earned the trophy after prevailing against Spanish poker pro Sergi Reixach. The tournament drew 67 entries and 16 re-entries and Thorel scored a cash prize worth €107,290 and €77,500 in bounties as he won his third-ever live poker tournament.

In August 2022, the very same event drew 74 unique players and 17 re-entries at Casino Barcelona and Francisco Benitez earned the victory, denying Igor Yaroshevskyy in heads-up. Last but not least, Juan Pardo Dominguez added another PokerStars spadie trophy to his collection at the 2022 EPT London series as he came out on top of a 56-entry strong field in the £10,200 Mystery Bounty Event.

Of the €10,200 buy-in, nearly half will go towards the Mystery Bounty prize pool as €5,000 each are accumulated for that while €4,700 each go towards the cash prize pool with €500 in house fees and staff charge are collected.

A total of eight levels are played on Day 1 and the late registration remains open until the start of level 11 on Day 2, which features blinds of 2,000-5,000 and a big blind ante of 5,000. Approximately 15% of the field will be played and the draw for the Mystery Bounty prizes becomes available at the start of level 13.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor at King's Casino Prague to provide updates from several high-stakes competitions as well as all major events during the 2022 EPT Prague stop.
