Docherty Leads Final Two Tables in EPT London Main Event

Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
David Docherty
David Docherty

Just three levels were played on Day 4 of the European Poker Tour London Main Event, and after just six hours of play it is David Docherty who leads the final 16 players.

The aim for the day was to get down to the final two tables or play three levels, and despite 16 players being reached with a level to go, there were no further eliminations and the players bagged up for Day 5 shortly before 6 p.m. local time.

Docherty's day was boosted by the fact that he cracked pocket kings with pocket aces twice in a single level to vault up the chip counts having started the day fifth in chips.

His first victim was Pedro Garagnani who also started the day with a top-10 chip stack, before also sending Jamil Wakil to the rail, all in the space of an hour. He would eventually bag 3,560,000 and is the only player over the three million chip mark.

Behind Docherty comes Ian Hamilton (2,450,000) and former WSOPE Main Event champion Jack Sinclair, who spent most of the day on the feature table and bagged 2,230,000, helped after picking off a bluff from fellow Brit Ben Heath in the closing stages of the day.

Other big stacks include Roman Hrabec (2,125,000) and Harry Lodge (2,045,000) who doubled through chip leader Docherty late on to vault up the counts.

Day 4 Recap

A shorter day was always expected with just 25 players remaining in the tournament at the start of the day, and besides Docherty's first-level fireworks there were a steady stream of eliminations during the early stages.

Popular French player Julien Sitbon was eliminated, despite calling his opponent's exact hole cards, while EPT London Ladies Event champion Jessica Pilkington also exited.

There were doubles for Ian Hamilton and Erik Seidel, with Hamilton also making a straight flush midway through the day.

A flurry of eliminations took the tournament from 20 to 16 players in the space of 30 minutes as Thomas Hueber, Enzo Vito, Ambrose Ng and Jordi Romero all exited, raising the prospect of play being halted earlier than scheduled.

But no further eliminations came in the final 90 minute level of the day. Docherty had held a 2:1 chip lead over his nearest rival at the final break, and had enough chips to double Harry Lodge in the closing stages without taking too much of a dent.

Docherty Jams on Chisu

Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
David Docherty
David Docherty

David Docherty opened to 55,000 on the button and Danut Chisu defended the big blind.

The dealer spread the {q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and Chisu checked. Docherty bet 45,000, and Chisu check-raised to 165,000. Docherty called.

The {a-Diamonds} landed on the turn and Chisu check-called for 120,000.

The {10-Spades} completed the board and Chisu checked. Docherty used two time banks before moving all in, covering Chisu's remaining stack of approximately 805,000. Chisu deliberated and used his final time bank before the dealer counted down the clock, and Chisu let the time expire. Chisu's hand was muck and Docherty collected the pot.

Lodge Doubles With Aces After "TV Runout"

Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Harry Lodge
Harry Lodge

Harry Lodge opened in middle position and David Docherty three-bet out of the big blind. Lodge four-bet jammed and Docherty called with the bigger stack.

Harry Lodge: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
David Docherty: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

At last, Docherty saw aces today without being the one holding them and he needed help to eliminate Lodge.

"I'm pretty good at these!" said Docherty as the flop landed {6-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Clubs} to give him a pair of kings and backdoor clubs to go with it.

The {7-Clubs} on the turn significantly upped the sweat factor as it gave Docherty a flush draw and Lodge was calling for a red card as the {7-Hearts} bricked off on the river to earn him the double up.

"This was a TV hand; that was a TV runout!" laughed Marton Czuczor.

Small One for Docherty

Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

David Docherty opened to 55,000 from early position and Danut Chisu flatted the hijack.

The flop came {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Docherty continued for 95,000. Chisu called. The duo checked down the {j-Hearts} turn and {k-Hearts} river.

Docherty tabled {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and it was good for the pot as Chisu mucked.

New Flop Between Flynn and Heath

Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Jamie Flynn {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} raised from the cutoff to 50,000 and Ben Heath {j-Diamonds}{8-Spades} defended his big blind.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Heath checked. Flynn went to bet but at the same time the floor was called.

The dealer had forgotten to burn a card, and the ruling was that the entire flop was to be shuffled back into the deck and a new flop dealt.

The new flop was {q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. Heath checked again but folded to a bet of 35,000 from Flynn.

Two Pair Good for Hrabec; Run-Good Continues for Docherty

Nível 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Roman Hrabec opened to 55,000 in middle position and Nicolas Vayssieres flat-called from the cutoff.

The flop landed a monotone {q-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and Hrabec continued for 25,000. Vayssieres called. Hrabec bet 25,000 again on the {4-Spades} turn and Vayssieres raised to 80,000. Hrabec called.

The {10-Hearts} on the river put a fourth heart on board and Hrabec checked. Vayssieres checked back, only to muck when Hrabec showed {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} for two pair. David Docherty, who has had the chip lead since two crucial hands early in the day where he picked up aces against kings, told the table he held the {j-Hearts} and would've made a straight flush.

"I've started to run good even when I'm not in the hand!" he laughed.
