Sitbon Overwhelming Chip Leader at End of Day 2 of the £1,100 UKIPT Main Event

Nível 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

Julien Sitbon ended Day 2 of the £1,100 UKIPT Main Event as a huge chip leader having reeked havoc throughout the day here at the PokerStars European Poker Tour London at the Hilton Park Lane hotel.

Sitbon started the day as a big stack having bagged 560,000 at the end of Day 1a but ends Day 2 with 6,940,000, more than double second place, as 28 players will return tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. local time for Day 3. The Frenchman has over $2,000,000 live tournament earnings and has already won two live tournaments this year including the €2,200 Freezeout at EPT Monte Carlo in May for over €80,000. Other big stacks include Mohamed Aissaoui (3,285,000), Jon Kyte (2,930,000) and Day 1b chip leader Vladas Tamasauskas (2,770,000).

Other notables who bagged included Martin Jacobson (285,000), Walter Treccarichi (485,000), and Punnat Punsri (1,405,000).

There were many big hands throughout the day including a day long battle between Kyte and Pedro Neves who were constantly battling out in three-bet pots. However, it was eventually Kyte who would have the last laugh as the Norwegian's pocket queens would crack Neves's pocket aces in a five-bet pot as Kyte would make a flush on the river to eliminate Neves.

A key turning point for chip leader Sitbon was in one of the last levels of the day where his king-jack turned the nut-straight while his opponent Alexandros Dranovitsas turned two pair. All the money went in on the river which ensured Sitbon's stack built and Dranovitsas's elimination.

The next level Sitbon continued to skyrocket as he eliminated Roberto Romanello followed by rivering a full house against Robin Scheidegger's trip aces in a huge pot, much to the Swiss's frustration. After that no other player count compare to Sitbon's mountain of chips.

Play will resume at 12 p.m. local time as play will continue with 60-minute levels until a final table is reached. Blinds will start at 20,000/40,000 with a 40,000 big blind ante.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for continued coverage until a winner is crowned with the trophy and the £232,300 first place prize.

Sitbon Rivers Boat Against Trips

Nível 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

There was around 600,000 in the pot. Chip leader Julien Sitbon was on the button against Robin Scheidegger in the small blind.

The board read {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and Scheidegger checked to Sitbon who bet 670,000. Scheidegger asked for a count before calling. Sitbon showed {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} for a rivered full house much to the visibly frustrated Scheidegger who turned over {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for trips.

Sitbon has now gone from chip leader to overwhelming chip leader in the room as the last couple of hands get played out.

Olivier Arnault: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Adrian Cazacu: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Arnault had the overpair while Cazacu had the nut flush draw. The turn was the {7-Spades} meaning that Arnault only needed to had a heart to survive. The river was a safe {k-Clubs} which ensured the double up for Arnault and left Cazacu with little.

Mohamed Aissaoui raised to 60,000 from under the gun before Denas Pranaitis three bet to 150,000 from early position. Pedro Neves four bet all in for 1,020,000 from the hijack before Jon Kyte five bet all in for more from the cutoff.

Aissaoui and Pranaitis quickly moved out the way.

Pedro Neves: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Jon Kyte: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Neves and Kyte had been battling hard against each other all day but it was Neves who was way out in front in this huge pot. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} which kept Neves ahead. The turn was the {7-Clubs} which gave Kyte a flush draw. The river was the {3-Clubs} which gave Kyte the flush and eliminated his nemesis Neves in brutal fashion.

The flop came {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs} and action checked through.

The {q-Diamonds} was the turn and Pyke bet 120,000 before Cazacu raised to around 400,000. Pyke moved all in which caused Cazacu to quickly fold. Pyke showed the goods as he has the board on lock with {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} for the nut straight and nut flush draw.

Rohit Mariwalla was all in for his last 500,000 from the button against Robin Scheidegger in the cutoff.

Rohit Mariwalla: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Robin Scheidegger: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Mariwalla was in bad shape as his pocket jacks were dominated by Scheidegger's pocket kings.

There would be no drama as the flop came {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} which left Mariwalla near drawing dead. The turn was the {3-Clubs} and the river was overkill for Scheidegger as it came the {k-Spades} to eliminate Mariwalla from the tournament.

Turn Card Pain for Dranovitsas

Nível 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

Alexandros Dranovitsas raised to 45,000 from the hijack before Julien Sitbon three bet to 125,000 from the cutoff. Dranovitsas called.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Dranovitsas check called the 100,000 continuation bet from Sitbon.

The {a-Spades} was the turn and Dranovitsas checked again. Sitbon slid out a lofty 275,000 bet. Dranovitsas paused before making the call.

The river was the {7-Diamonds} and Dranovitsas checked for a third time. Sitbon completed the triple barrel as he bet 500,000 forcing Dranovitsas all in. Dranovitsas called for his tournament life but would be exiting the tournament area in brutal fashion as his {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} was no match for Sitbon's {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} who had made broadway with the straight to move over 2,000,000 chips.

Chetrit Decimated in Short Order as Trofimov Soars

Nível 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Dragos Trofimov
Dragos Trofimov

There was a big preflop all in that occurred in which Dragos Trofimov raised to 40,000. Jorge Palomino Rebolleda three-bet to 120,000, Michael Chetrit then jammed all in which Trofimov called and Palomino Rebolleda folded to. Trofimov found himself at risk but ahead with the {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} against the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} of Chetrit.

The board ran out {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{j-Spades} to give Trofimov the set of kings and the huge pot.

A couple of hands later Chetrit was decimated further as his {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} ran into the {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} of Roura Comas. The board would not help Chetrit as it came {3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs} to send him his once large stack down to a tiny one.
