Nível 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Kenny Hallaert

They needed to play into an extra level in the opening flight of the EPT Prague €1,100 Eureka Main Event to reach the money, but after a bit of bonus time, 103 players advanced to Day 2, led by Poland's Mateusz Szymanski (606,000).

The day featured plenty more star power as well, with PokerStars ambassador “Papo MC” Alejandro Lococo (508,000) not far behind. Kenny Hallaert (318,000) and Ismael Bojang (297,000) are also among those advancing on to Day 2.

The tournament’s opening flight saw 694 entries in the field with the final 15% making the money. Players were allowed one re-entry and also had the opportunity to join one of the other three flights, should they bust.

Among those that busted day 1a and hopped into the evening 1b turbo flight were Masato Yokosawa and Ori Hasson.

Hallaert and Bojang Make Noise

Hallaert was nursing a short stack in the early levels of play but managed to turn it into a contender with a series of double-ups and eliminations.
Bojang, who said he was excited to be playing his first EPT Prague in four years steadily grew his stack throughout the day before finishing with a healthy 297,000.

What’s Next?

The final 103 players from this flight will combine with the survivors of flights B, C, and D on Tuesday, March 8 for Day 2. The total prize pool will be announced then, but this flight alone generated over €660,000 toward that final total.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for all the action from this event and every EPT Prague event here at King’s Casino Prague.

Ismael Bojang
Ismael Bojang

Ismael Bojang has rebuilt his stack in a big way and is now pushing for the chip lead as the night nears its end.

After a raise to 8,000 in middle position and two calls, Bojang three-bet from the small blind to 35,000.

His three potential opponents all folded, awarding Bojang the pot without seeing a flop.

"A good hand, but not a great hand", said Bojang.

"I could have called also." he continued as he dragged the pot.

Oleg Bessaev
Oleg Bessaev

Action was joined in an already sizable pot with Oleg Bessaev betting 30,000 into his opponent on a turn board reading {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

His opponent called to see the {4-Spades} fall on the river. Both players checked, with Bessaev's opponent revealing {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for a flopped top pair. Bessaev however held {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} for a winning overpair, which boosted his stack to nearly 400,000.

Yokosawa Eliminated, But Will Return

Masato Yokosawa
Masato Yokosawa

Masato Yokosawa was short-stacked and all in preflop versus Patrick Bechard and 2013 EPT Deauville Main Event Champion Remi Castaignon.

With action on the river for a side pot with the board reading {2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Spades}{3-Clubs}, Castaignon checked to Bechard, who bet 10,000. Castaignon called for most of his remaining stack.

Bechard showed {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a winning top two pair. Castaignon showed a losing {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}, while Yokosawa showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} to eliminate him from the flight, but the GPI award-winning Poker Personality of the Year says he'll be entering tonight's flight B.

Stefan Peukert: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Raab was in great shape through the turn as the dealer spread {2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

Unfortunately for Raab, however, the {q-Clubs} fell on the river to send him to the rail.

Cotturri Flushes for a Near Triple

Nível 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Vincenzo Cotturri
Vincenzo Cotturri

With around 5,000 in the original pot and {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts} on the board, floor staff was in the process of resolving the hand after a three-way all in.

Vincenzo Cotturri had {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} tabled for the flush while Oleg Bessaev was showing {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}. Carmen Zainescu had mucked the losing hand and was out of the tournament. Bessaev had called Cotturri's shove, but there was some question as to the exact amount that Cotturri would be owed.

It took a moment, but floor staff determined that Cotturri was owed 11,500 from Bessaev, and he dragged a pot to nearly triple his stack early in Day 1a action.
