PokerNews sat down with former EPT Main Event champion and four-time WSOP bracelet-winner Adrian Mateos to discuss the return of EPT High Rollers.

Mateos says he missed his "favourite tour" during the pandemic, and is enjoying being back in the live scene.

"We've seen some new characters over the last two years," he said. "We've played a lot of online so there are definitely new players who have been big winners online coming into the live scene.

Brito Silva Jams on Brewer

Nível 11 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Marius Gierse opened to 10,000 from the cutoff and was called by Chris Brewer and Pablo Brito Silva from the button and the big blind respectively.

Action checked through on the {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop to the {10-Clubs} turn. Brito Silva led for 12,000 and only Brewer called.

On the {3-Hearts} river, Brito Silva moved all-in and Brewer mucked his cards.

Astedt Eliminated by Chidwick

Nível 11 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Niklas Astedt
Niklas Astedt

Niklas Astedt was one of the players who bought in at the start of the day, but he has just been eliminated.

He got his chips in with {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and was flipping against the {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} of Stephen Chidwick.

Unluckily for him, the {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop gave his opponent a set and he failed to catch up on the {6-Hearts}{9-Hearts} river and was eliminated.

Brito Silva Chips Up, Then Chips Down

Nível 11 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Stephen Chidwick opened to 15,000 from the small blind and Pablo Brito Silva defended his big blind.

Brito Silva called an 8,000 bet on the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop before action checked through on the {4-Diamonds} turn and {q-Clubs} river.

Chidwick rolled over the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and his opponent scooped the pot with their {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, which was good for a flush.

The next hand, Chris Brewer opened from the cutoff to 10,000. Brito Silva three-bet to 30,000. Brewer then four-bet jammed which prompted a quick fold from the Brazilian.

Guilbert an Early Elimination

Nível 11 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Johan Guilbert
Johan Guilbert

Blind on blind, Johan Guilbert got his last 33,000 chips in with {q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} against the {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} of Nick Petrangelo.

The flop {k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} gave Petrangelo a pair. The turn {9-Diamonds} gave Guilbert a gutshot.

"Sorry," he said, in anticipation of the river, but the {k-Clubs} sent him to the rail.

Nemeth in Pole Position to Capture €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em EPT Prague Title

Andras Nemeth
Andras Nemeth

Day 2 of PokerStars EPT Prague €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em at King's Casino Prague gets underway today Wednesday, March 16 at 1 p.m. CET.

Andras Nemeth has given himself an excellent chance of claiming his second 2021 EPT Prague title, as he leads the current field of five with a stack of 397,000.

Nemeth triumphed earlier on the series, winning the €25,000 Single Day High Roller II for a cool €211,760.

Others who advanced from include Stephen Chidwick, Chris Brewer, Johan Guilbert and Daniel Dvoress.

Yesterday's action saw ten entries, with the likes of Timothy Adams, Rodrigo Seluoan, Marius Gierse and Nick Petrangelo bowing out on Day 1.

Brewer was also an early Day 1 casualty after running into quads but the American opted to re-enter. It proved to be a fruitful decision as he immediately doubled up with a flush, cracking the set of kings held by Seluoan.

Late registration closes at the beginning of Day 2 and the Day 1 bust outs are all expected to return along with a host of poker's finest players.
