Jasper Meijer Van Putten Leads Heading in the €10,300 EPT Prague High Roller Final Day

Jasper Meijer Van Putten will return for the final day of the €10,300 EPT Prague High Roller as the chip leader after he bagged 2,297,000.

When the action gets backs underway at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, December,18, at the Hilton Prague there will be 18 players taking their seats with a shot at the €503,700 first-place prize.

Henrik Hecklen (1,512,000), Niall Farrell (1,404,000), Alexandre Reard (1,133,000), and Max Silver (912,000), who won the €10,300 EPT Barcelona High Roller in August for €600,924, complete the top five stacks.

Michael Addamo (815,000), Ole Schemion (702,000), Daniel Dvoress (622,000) and short stack Charlie Carrel (97,000) will alsp be a part of the stella Day 3 line-up.

"The variance is with me here!" Van Putten told PokerNews after bagging up. "I started with 20 bigs today and blasted off from there. There was a huge hand when someone shoved four times the pot with a straight into my full house."

The hand in question occurred when the board was down jack-ten-eight-jack, and Johnny Nedved moved all in for 280,000 and Van Putten snap-called. Nedved held queen-nine for the flopped nut straight, but Van Putten had turned the house with pocket tens.

"From there I just went straight up," he said with a smile. "The cards that I got were all it took, nothing more nothing less."

Van Putten is no stranger to success in Prague having won the 2016 EPT Main Event for €699,300, as well as a gold medal in the €10,300 No-Limit Hold'em event in 2017 for €150,000 and a runners-up spot in the €2,200 No-Limit Hold'em event for €111,600 just two days ago!

"I love playing in EPTs here in Prague and Barcelona. That's where the Dutchies can play tax-free, so that's why I'm only going to these two stops."

Danny Tang, who took down last year's PokerStars Championship Prague €10,300 High Roller, will also return with the chance of completing an incredible back-to-back win. Tang secured a vital double up in the final orbit of the day after Tomas Paiva shoved into Tang on the river holding king-jack for two pair, only to see Tang call with a set of fours.

Action of the day

Day 2 got underway with 99 players returning, but with late registration available up until the play began, several players rejoined including Steve O'Dywer and brought the total entrants for the event up to 259.

Thomas Boivin, who took down the first €25,000 Single-Day High Roller of the festival for €375,520, secured a double up within the first few hands of the day but was unable to build on that momentum and departed just an hour later.

Also heading to the exit early on was Akin Tuna, who won the €10,300 No-Limit Hold'em Opener at the Hilton Prague for €125,330 his week, and he was followed out the door by Michael Soyza and O'Dwyer.

Gianluca Speranza started the day as the chip leader but was among the list of departures shortly after the second break of the day. Speranza was all in pre-flop and saw both Joao Vieira and Simon Pedersen call. After Pedersen had pressured Vieira into folding on the river, Speranza saw that his seven-nine was no good against Pedersen's pocket sixes.

The players returned from their dinner break knowing that just three of the remaining 42 would not find a place in the money, and hand-for-hand play began. Throughout the hour, Jussi Nevanlinna and Scott Margereson had departed meaning it was time for the stone-cold bubble.

And the unlucky man was to be Krasimir Yankov.

Yankov opened to 20,000 and Hon Cheong Lee three-bet all in for around 250,000 from the small blind. Yankov called and was all in. The cards were turned over, with Yankov in a good position for a double with pocket kings against Lee's ace-queen.

But the flop came ace-ace-ace giving Lee quads and leaving Yankov drawing dead and confirmed as the bubble boy.

As expected there was then a flurry of departures within a short space of time with Sam Grafton, Patrik Antonius, Joao Vieira, Timothy Adams and Joao Barbosa among those to miss out on a place at the final three tables.

Andrija Robovic, Tomas Jozonis, Ran Ilani, Andre Lommel, Davidi Kitai, and Zhong Chen were then unable to last until the end of all ten levels and missed out on a place in the final day.

PokerNews as always will be bringing you all the final day coverage right down to the crowning of the winner, so be sure to check back in with us from 12:30 pm local time.

More Eliminations Late on Day 2

Davidi Kitai
Davidi Kitai

Andre Lommel is the latest player to bust the €10,300 High Roller at the hands of Max Silver. It's unclear when it went in, but Lommel's {Q-}{J-} was good on a {j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop against Silver's {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, and on the {9-Hearts} turn. However the {k-Hearts} river swung things the direction of Silver who sent Lommel to the rail.

Meanwhile big stack Jasper Meijer Van Putten had shoved from the small blind with Davidi Kitai and his 150,000 stack in the big blind. Kitai called and the cards were turned over.

Davidi Kitai: {5-}{5-}
Jasper Meijer Van Putten: {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop gave Kitai a gutshot straight draw and the {3-Diamonds} turn gave him a flush draw as well. However, he failed to hit anything on the {2-Clubs} river and he was eliminated.

Grafton and Antonius Depart

Nível 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

Sam Grafton and Patrik Antonius have both exited the EPT Prague High Roller.

Grafton moved all in for around ten big blinds from under the gun and was called by Ran Ilani on the button.

Grafton: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Ran Ilani: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Grafton took the lead when he paired his eight on the {8-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop. The turn {q-Diamonds} didn't change anything, but when the {j-Diamonds} hit on the river, Ilani hit the straight and sent Grafton to the rail with a min-cash.

On the other table, Patrik Antonius was all in with {k-Hearts}{10-Spades} and up against one opponent with {q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and Anton Yakuba with {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

The board fell {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts}, and Yakuba won the pot and eliminated Antonius.

Yankov Bubbles High Roller in Spectacular Fashion

Nível 18 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Krasimir Yankov
Krasimir Yankov

Krasimir Yankov opened to 20,000 and Hon Cheong Lee three-bet all in for around 250,000 from the small blind. Yankov called and was all in.

The cards were turned over, with Yankov in a good position for a double with {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} against Lee's {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}.

Lee would need an ace to burst the bubble, and he got three, with the flop coming {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} giving him quads and leaving Yankov drawing dead.

The {5-Spades}{7-Clubs} runout was inconsequential and a shell-shocked Yankov was eliminated.

The remaining players are all guaranteed €17,330.

Hecklen Doubles Through Yosifov

Nível 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Henrik Hecklen
Henrik Hecklen

The action folded to Henrik Hecklen in the small blind, and he called. Chip leader Dimitar Yosifov then raised, and Hecklen called.

The flop fell {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, and Hecklen check-called a 19,000 bet from Yosifov. Hecklen checked again on the {9-Diamonds} turn card, and Yosifov continued for 70,000.

Hecklen paused for 20 seconds before he called and left himself with 170,000 behind.

The river card was the {q-Clubs}, and Hecklen checked for the third time. Yosifov sat silent for close to 30 seconds before he reached for a large stack of 25,000 chips and placed them into the middle, enough to put Hecklen all in.

Hecklin snap-called and Yosifov tabled {8-Hearts}{2-Spades} for a complete bluff. Hecklin flipped over {a-Spades}{5-Clubs} for trips and secured a full double up on the bubble.

Nevanlinna Eliminated

Jussi Nevanlinna

Krasimir Yankov raised to 17,000 from the cutoff, and Jussi Nevanlinna put his last 16,000 into the middle from the button. Max Silver in the small blind and Simone Speranza in the big blind called.

The flop fell {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, and both Silver and Speranza checked. Yankov bet and both his opponents folded, which meant a showdown between Yankov and Nevanlinna.

Yankov tabled {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for top pair, and Nevanlinna had fallen with {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

The board completed {2-Hearts} and {7-Spades}, which were no help for Nevanlinna, who became the first player to exit during hand-for-hand.

With five minutes left on the level before the players break for dinner, Martin Finger has seen his tournament come to a finish.

Finger got all his chips into the middle against Zhong Chen and found himself in a bad spot.

Finger held {a-}{q-}, and Chen was way ahead with {a-}{a-}.

There was to be no miracle board for Finger, and he departed short of the money places.

Daniel_Dvoress

The board was down {3-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, and there were close to 150,000 chips in the middle. Daniel Dvoress bet 110,000 from the big blind, and Sam Grafton called from the cutoff and left himself with 160,000 behind.

The river card was the {10-Spades}, and Dvoress needed to use a time-extension to think over his next move. Nearly a minute had passed in total before Dvoress announced all in for around 400,000.

Grafton went into the tank and used three time-extensions while he mulled over whether to put his tournament life on the line or not. Ultimately, after two minutes had gone by, the Brit opted to fold, and Dvoress picked up one of the biggest pots of the tournament so far.
