Dia 2 Começado

Welcome to Day 2 of the EPT12 Dublin €25,750 High Roller

Anton Bertilsson leads the High Rollers into Day 2
Anton Bertilsson leads the High Rollers into Day 2

In 90 minutes from now at 12.30 p.m. local time, Day 2 of the 2016 PokerStars EPT12 Dublin €25,750 High Roller Event gets underway at the Royal Dublin Society. So far, the tournament has attracted a total of 56 players and 10 of them took advantage of the single reentry to create a field of 66 entries. Throughout the first eight levels, this number was whittled down to 41 hopefuls, but the field size may still increase with registration open until 15 minutes prior to the start of Day 2.

Leading the field is Anton Bertilsson with staggering 1,375,000 in chips and the Swede is no stranger on the European Poker Tour, having finished second to Stephen Graner in the EPT11 Prague Main Event. Furthermore, Bertilsson was one of five players that won their entry through a €3,000 Satellite the previous day. Nick Petrangelo (888,000) and Kim Wittendorff (852,000) complete the overnight podium whereas many other well known names of the international poker circuit also made it through to Day 2.

Other big stacks include Dario Sammartino (733,000), Timothy Adams (729,000), Triple Crown Winner Davidi Kitai (696,000) and Mike Watson (673,000) to just name a few. The only remaining Team PokerStars Pro is Jason Mercier (555,000) whereas Andre Akkari busted late on Day 1. Steve O'Dwyer won't be returning to the tables today either after busting on both bullets yesterday.

Action resumes with level nine at blinds 3,000-6,000 and a running ante of 1,000, giving new additions to the field more than 40 big blinds to play with. A maximum of 10 levels of 60 minutes each will be played or until the final table of the last eight is reached, whichever of the two comes first. The PokerNews live reporting team will be on hand to cover the action, so make sure to tune back in regularly.

"That was Quick"

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

In one of the first few hands of the day, Rocco Palumbo opened to 14,000 from the small blind and Philip Sternheimer moved all in out of the big blind for 117,000. Palumbo called and Sternheimer had some kicker trouble.

Sternheimer: {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Palumbo: {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and despite picking up a straight draw, Sternheimer was sent to the rail. "That was quick," he sighed and headed out of the tournament area.

Luca Busts Nishijima

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

On a board of {6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{A-Spades}{J-Hearts} Ivan Luca (big blind) and Thiago Nishijima (cutoff) got their chips in the middle. Luca had the best of it holding {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}. Nishijima, despite having two pair with the {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, was looking for just a six to save his tournament life. The {K-Diamonds} on the river was a blank and Nishijima made his exit.

Kitai Chips Up House over House

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

When we got to his table, Davidi Kitai had bet out on a river of {3-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}, but was facing a hefty re-raise from Ivan Luca. Kitai pondered for a moment before making the call. Luca tabled {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a full house, but he winced as Kitai rolled over {k-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for a larger house. With that hand he moved over the one million chip mark early on day two
