The 2015 PokerStars European Poker Tour Season 12 Prague €10,300 High Roller attracted 315 entrants, which created a €3,150,000 prize pool. On Wednesday, the final 18 returned to battle down to a winner, and when the dust had settled, Kenny "kenny05" Smaron emerged victorious to capture the €595,500 first-place prize.

For Smaron, who will turn 31 on Christmas Day, the win was by far his largest live cash to date. In fact, prior to this one he had just $202,744 in live tournament earnings with his largest cash being $90,175 for finishing third in the 2008 World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic.

Smaron, who finished 91st in the EPT Prague Main Event for €11,540, is best known for his online exploits where he plays high-stakes six-max hyper sit-n-gos on PokerStars. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the online poker expatriate now splits his time between Costa Rica and Colombia.

"I played like a savage at this final table," said Smaron, who hadn't played in an EPT for nearly five years. "It was finally my time."

The day kicked off with a flurry of eliminations; in fact, it took just three levels for 10 players to fall and set up the final table. Among those to exit early were Artem Metalidi (18th - €31,480), Nicholas Palma (17th - €36,060), Bryan Paris (16th - €36,060), Mikkel Lokkegaard Hansen (15th - €40,640), William Foxen (14th - €40,640), Luc Greenwood (13th - €45,220), Mihails Morozovs (12th - €45,220), Aleksandr Denisov (11th - €51,330), and Kevin MacPhee (10th - €51,330).

In regards to MacPhee, he began the day as chip leader and was looking to close out his very impressive 2015 with another big win. Unfortunately for him, he fell after he opened to 60,000 and was three-bet to 215,000 by Smaron. MacPhee responded with an all-in four-bet for around 900,000, and Smaron insta-called with the {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. MacPhee had the {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, and he looked to have earned a reprieve when the {J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop came into view. But, he then fell behind on the {Q-Hearts} turn. After the {3-Spades} hit on the river to seal his fate, MacPhee headed to the cashier's cage.

The elimination of Davidi Kitai came a short time later and set up the official final table of eight. From there, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst fell in eighth after shoving with the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and running into the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} of Felix Bleiker. She was soon joined on the rail by Rocco Palumbo, who was the loser of two back-to-back hands, and then Daniel "Jungleman" Cates, who grew short only to shove into two pocket pairs.

The smaller of those pairs, held by Greece's Iliodoros Kamatiakis, ended up getting crippled in the hand, and then he lost a race to bust a short time later. By that time the blinds were getting big, so it was no surprise to see Ihar Soika go with queens in a three-way all-in pot. Two players managed to survive, but the Belarusian was not one of them.

Three-handed action took awhile, but eventually the blinds whittled away at Bleiker, who fell when his {K-}{3-} failed to get there against the {A-}{3-} of Smaron. That set up a heads-up match with Smaron holding a more than 6-1 chip lead against Jaroslaw Sikora. For as long as three-handed play lasted, heads-up play was just the opposite, as It took just two hands for Smaron to seal the deal.

Jaroslaw Sikora

Jaroslaw Sikora is the runner-up, busting during the first couple of hands of heads-up play.

Sikora pushed all-in for less than 2 million with {K-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Kenneth Smaron called with {A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Five community cards later and the board read {4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, busting Sikora in second place.

Felix Bleiker

Felix Bleiker has bust in third place here in the €10,300 High Roller, sending the tournament into the heads-up stage.

Bleiker pushed all-in from the button with what turned out to be {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Kenneth Smaron called in the big blind with {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. A final board reading {3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades} sent Bleiker to the rail.

There was a scheduled 60-minute dinner break but the heads-up pair have opted to take a 15-20 minute break before coming back to play for the title.

Ihar Soika
Ihar Soika

Another crazy hand has sent a player to the rail, although almost two players bust on the same hand.

Ihar Soika opened to 200,000 and Kenneth Smaron three-bet to 475,000 from the button. Felix Bleiker four-bet all-in for 2,360,000 only to see Soika re-shove and Smaron re-shove over him!

Bleiker: {A-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Soika: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Smaron: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

The {k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop saw Smaron's aces hold firm, with the {2-Clubs} turn drawing some oohs and ahhs as a chop became a possibility. A chop is what happened when the {4-Spades} landed on the river, gifting Bleiker the same straight as a disappointed Smaron, busting Soika.

Iliodoros Kamatakis Eliminated in 5th Place (€138,110)

Iliodoros Kamatakis - 5th Place
Iliodoros Kamatakis - 5th Place

Iliodoros Kamatakis managed to pick up a few chips by shoving over the top of a raise, but when he tried it for a second time he found himself racing for his tournament life.

It began when Jaroslaw Sikora opened for 170,000 from the cutoff and Kamatakis shoved all in for 1.175 million from the big blind. Sikora thought for about 45 seconds and then made the call.

Kamatakis: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Sikora: {q-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Kamatakis got it in good, but he fell behind on the {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop. The {Q-Spades} turn left Kamatakis in need of an eight on the river to survive, but despite his pleas to the dealer, it didn't come as the {A-Hearts} peeled off instead.

Daniel Cates Eliminated in 6th Place (€138,110)

Nível 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Cates
Daniel Cates

Prague has seen some huge hands this week and another has just gone down here in the high roller.

Daniel Cates open-shoved from the button, Iliodoros Kamatakis reshoved from the small blind, and Felix Bleiker snap-called both shove from his seat in the big blind.

Cates: {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Kamatakis: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Bleiker: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{Q-Clubs} flop improved Cates to a pair of queens but he needed to catch another out on the turn or river. Sadly, for Cates fans at least, the turn and river fell {2-Spades} and {4-Spades}, busting Cates and reducing Kamatakis' stack to 900,000.

Rocco Palumbo Eliminated in 7th Place (€101,440)

Nível 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Rocco Palumbo
Rocco Palumbo

Italy's Rocco Palumbo is the seventh place finishers after losing his stack in back-to-back hands.

The first was a real cooler of a hand, which saw Palumbo raise to 115,000 from under the gun and get called by Felix Bleiker on the button. Plumbo then check-called bets of 115,000, then 165,000 and finally 500,000 on the {J-Hearts}{A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} board and showed {A-}{Q-} for trip aces, but Bleiker turned over {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for a full house.

The next hand saw Daniel Cates open to 100,000 from under the gun and Palumbo call from the big blind, leaving himself 95,000 behind. Palumbo then shoved on the {6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Cates called.

Cates: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Palumbo: {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The {6-Spades} turn was followed by the {10-Clubs} river and Palumbo was gone.

Vanessa Selbst

Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst is the High Roller's eighth place finisher.

Selbst had shoved for 705,000 from the small blind and got a fold from Felix Bleiker in the big blind, albeit after 30-seconds or so of considering a call. A couple of hands later, Selbst open-shoved from the hijack with {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Bleiker reshoved with {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. A few seconds later and the {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{k-Spades} board was in view, Selbst said her goodbyes and headed out of the tournament area.

Davidi Kitai Eliminated in 9th Place (€61,110)

Davidi Kitai
Davidi Kitai

After Rocco Palumbo opened from middle position, a short-stacked Davidi Kitai moved all in for 340,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Palumbo, and he made the call.

Kitai: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Palumbo: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

It was a flip, but Kitai needed to improve to stay alive. He failed to do so on the {5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, and the {4-Diamonds} turn wasn't quite what he was looking for, though it did give him a gutshot to a wheel.

The dealer burned one last time and put out the {8-Diamonds} on the river, the last card Kitai would see in the EPT12 Prague High Roller. The final eight players will now take a brief break to snap the official final table photo.

Kevin MacPhee Eliminated in 10th Place (€51,330)

Nível 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Kevin MacPhee
Kevin MacPhee

Kevin MacPhee was the chip leader going into Day 3, but has now bubbled a final table appearance.

MacPhee opened to 60,000 and was three-bet to 215,000 by Kenneth Smaron. MacPhee responded with a four-bet all-in for around 900,000 and Smaron instantly called.

Smaron: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
MacPhee: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

MacPhee looked to have earned a reprieve when the {J-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop came into view, then fell behind on the {Q-Hearts} turn. All MacPhee could do now was lose or chop and did the former with the arrival of the {3-Spades} river. An expletive later and MacPhee headed to the cashier's cage to collect €51,330.
