Westmorland Wins A Small One

Nível 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Andrija Martic opened the button for 80,000 holding {Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Jordan Westmorland in the small blind was the sole caller, and he had a hand that dominated the one of Martic; {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Westmorland check-called a 85,000 bet. The turn came the {7-Diamonds} and Westmorland lead out. Martic quickly folded and the pot went to Westmorland.

First Hand For Benelli

Nível 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Jordan Westmorland opened for 80,000 with {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} under the gun and Andrea Benelli called on the button with {k-Spades}{10-Hearts} as did Andrija Martic in the big blind with {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

The flop was {8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. Westmorland continued for 100,000 and Benelli made the call and Martic folded. The turn card was the {6-Hearts}.

Westmorland checked as did Benelli and they saw a river card {4-Hearts}.

Westmorland checked again and Benelli now went for value with a bet of 225,000.

Westmorland thought about it called. Benelli showed the winning hand and won a 950,000 pot.

Who Will Take Down The Title?

Top Dog Jordan Westmorland
Top Dog Jordan Westmorland

It's final table day here at the PokerStars.it European Poker Tour Sanremo Main Event. Eight players are still in contention for that first prize of €476,100.

The final table will start at noon local time (in one hour). As there will be a live stream with hole cards, the coverage will begin on an hour delay. So get your refreshing finger ready as from 1 pm local time PokerNews will again supply you with all the coverage you can ask for. We'll recap the action you see on the live stream, bring you the best photos and the video team will try to talk to the players on their way to that coveted title.

Jordan Westmorland is the man to beat today as he starts the day with more chips than anyone; 3,330,000. That's 83 big blinds as we'll kick of the action with blind level 26 (20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante). Westmorland is seated in seat 1 and will start the day as the chip leader. He's out of position against the number two in chips though, local hero Giacomo Fundaro is in seat two with 3,100,000.

Emmanuel Pariset showed no other move than to just open push for the last two days. Will he show us he knows some other tricks to? Can Vicky Coren-Mitchell become the first two time EPT champion? Can an Italian win a title again after Salvatore Bonavena back in Prague Season 5? Those questions and more we'll see answered today.

Seat 1: Jordan Westmorland, 23, Seattle, USA (living in Gold Coast, Australia) - PokerStars qualifier - 3,330,000 chips

Jordan Westmorland
Jordan Westmorland

Having been displaced from his native United States after Black Friday, Jordan "JWPRODIGY" Westmorland moved to Thailand and then to the Gold Coast in Australia to continue playing online. It's been a profitable few years for Westmorland, who complemented his online play with regular visits to events in Macau, as well as tournaments on the APPT, ANZPT and WSOP APAC. But his live tournament cashes of $165,000 are dwarfed by his online results, now totalling close to $2m, including a triumph in the PokerStars Super Tuesday last August. Despite his globetrotting, this is his first visit to the EPT — and it's been a breeze. He has been chip-leader for the past two days and takes a commanding stack to the final. Whatever happens, however, he won't be able to extend the trip to Europe as he is due back in Australia for back-to-back weddings of close friends on the next two Saturdays. He won his trip to Sanremo in a PokerStars €530 qualifier.

Seat 2: Giacomo Fundaro, 27, Italy – 3,100,000 chips

Giacomo Fundaro
Giacomo Fundaro

Giacomo is a an Italian pro who’s been playing poker for nearly six years, with numerous big cashes amounting in total to more than $650,000 in lifetime tournament winnings. He was the 2012 WPT El Jadida champion for $166,704, and runner-up the following year at WPT St.Maarten, when he cashed for $100,000. He has finished in the money in five IPTs including fifth in San Marino in 2010 for $37,000. His best EPT result before now was 27th at EPT8 Sanremo for €16,000. During today, Fundaro noticed that every time he took a sip of his Coke or Fanta, he won the next showdown - so he plans to continue the “strategy” at tomorrow’s final.
