Altergott’s Dinner Break Routine

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Max Altergott
Max Altergott

Igor Kurganov opened from early position for 1,800 and was three-bet from the small blind by Max Altergott to 4,800. Kurganov eyed up his man and raised to 12,200. Altergot folded his hands with a smile saying, “A present for you.”

Kurganov then mentioned that he had seen Altergott meditating at the dinner break. Vicky Coren Mitchell was mildly astonished saying she didn’t think anyone was more unlike her than Altergott. She then wanted to know if everyone else had something to eat at the break before revealing how she had spent her 75 minutes.

“Two glasses of wine and spaghetti. I’m buzzing and I’ll be asleep by the end of the level.” she told the table.

Thin Value for Chidwick

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Oleh Okhotskyi opened the betting and Stephen Chidwick defended the big blind. They saw a flop of {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Chidwick check-called a bet of 1,800 from Okhotskyi.

The turn card was the {5-Hearts} and both players checked. When the river {3-Diamonds} fell Chidwick bet 800, one big blind. “Eight hundred?” Okhotskyi asked the dealer and called.

Chidwick’s {j-Spades}{7-Spades} was good, besting the {10-}{7-} of Okhotskyi.

Negreanu Doubles

Daniel Negreanu - 1st Bullet
Daniel Negreanu - 1st Bullet

Daniel Negreanu’s stack had dipped below the 10,000 mark and stayed there for some time. He reminded the table that he was grinding his stack on his first bullet and folded through the blinds at the start of the level.

Soon though it was all in the middle against Igor Kurganov who had {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. Negreanu Had {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} and it held on a final board of {8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

“Eighty seven hundred dollars. First bullet.” Negreanu crowed. “Trapped him.”

The "Litvinov No Look"

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Artem Litvinov (photo: Main Event)

We didn't catch exactly what happened, but apparently Bertrand Grospellier and Artem Litvinov played a hand without looking at their cards. By the time the river was out there, the board read seven-high and Grospellier and Litvinov checked their cards after having checked dark presumably on the flop and turn.

Grospellier bet 1,000. "Ok, if I look I win small pot. Now I no look and win big pot, because I am going to raise and you call" said Litvinov. It played out exactly as Litvinov said, he raised to 3,000 and Grospellier called. Litviniv showed his {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and indeed took it down, Grospellier mucked.

"Ok, next time we play no look with Viktor" said Litvinov, meaning that Grospellier on the button, he himself in the small blind, and Viktor Blom in the big blind would play blind if it was folded to them. Exactly that happened and Grospellier raised to 1,600 without taking a look at his cards.

"Ok" said Litvinov who reached for his chips. "No, no" laughed Blom, "This is too crazy"

Floorman Nick O'Hara than came over and informed Litvinov and the table with a friendly voice that they weren't allowed to discuss these kind of things when there were three players left in a hand.

Grospellier now wanted to grab his 1,600 back, but that wasn't allowed by the dealer of course. "Ok, I look. We friends if I look?" asked Litvinov to his neighbor. Grospellier laughed and said it was fine, "I was going to raise blind probably anyway when folded to me on the button."

Litvinov checked his cards, and mucked. Blom now took a look at his cards for the first time, and shoved all in for a little over 20,000. Grospellier checked his cards, and mucked.

You can say a lot about these High Rollers, but the play and banter is highly entertaining and the atmosphere nothing but relaxed.

Litvinov Unhappy

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

The final board read {2-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Igor Yaroshevskyy was first to act and he bet 16,400. A decidedly unhappy Artem Litvinov was the man being asked to make the call.

He moved about in his seat while deciding what to do. He asked the dealer to spread the pot so he could get a more accurate count. It was about 25,000. At last Litvinov picked up the calling chips in one fist and slammed them angrily on the table.

Yaroshevskyy calmly turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for the full house. Litvinov briefly flipped over his {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flush.

Loosli Spikes It, Doubles

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Ariel Celestino opened the betting for 2,000 and a still angry Artem Litvinov slammed down the calling chips. Viktor Blom madethe call on the button and small blind Sylvain Loosli moved all in for 25,900. Celestino made the call to put Loosli at risk and the other players folded.

Loosli: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Celestino: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and a visibly upset Celestino handed over the chips to an abashed but grateful Loosli.
