Gus Hansen Eliminates Tobias Reinkemeier

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Tobias Reinkemeier has just been knocked out of the tournament by his neighbor Gus Hansen. The players at the table were needling Reinkemeier about his alleged over aggressive play, but that's about everything we know at the moment.

Peters vs. Schemion

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

David Peters opened for 13,000 and Ole Schemion defended from the big blind. Both players checked the {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop, and then Schemion led out for 33,000 on the {6-Clubs} turn. Peters took his time before making the call, and the {J-Spades} completed the board on the river. Schemion fired a second time for 75,000, and it did the trick as Peters sent his cards to the muck.

Altergott Eliminated

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Max Altergott
Max Altergott

Max Altergott had been crippled in a previous hand and got his final few chips in preflop blind on blind against chip leader Philipp Gruissem.

Altergott: {7-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Gruissem: {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}

"You got €100,000 in with seven-deuce?" said Gruissem, gently ribbing his opponent.

It looked as though Altergott would double up as the flop came {5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} and the turn gave him two pair with the {7-Clubs}. But the river was the {A-Spades} and Gruissem made a straight meaning last year's winner is now out of the tournament.

Early Double for Hansen

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Full Tilt Poker Professional Gus Hansen paid his €100,000 entry fee and sat down with 40 big blinds. On the third hand his table had played he opened under-the-gun for 16,000. PokerStars Team Online player Isaac Haxton was in the Hijack and he stared Hansen down for a while before making it 44,000. The other players folded and Hansen bounced around in his seat before making the call.

The flop was {9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Hansen spread his chips on the felt in front of him and picked out a bet of 46,000. Haxton went in the tank and took a couple of minutes to make his decision, When he reached it he announced, “All in.”

Hansen put his chips across the line to call.

Haxton tabled {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} but Hanen had out flopped him with a {q-Spades}{j-Clubs} straight.

“I think it’s nice.” said Hansen and it remained nice as turn {8-Spades} river {3-Spades} put a dent in Haxton’s stack and doubled up the great Dane.

Big Three-Way All-In Pot at the Feature Table

Nível 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Paul Newey
Paul Newey

We're only a few minutes into Day 2, and already there has been a big cooler. It happened over at the feature table between Ole Schemion, Paul Newey, and Mike "Timex" McDonald.

It began when Schemion opened for 14,000 under the gun only to have Newey three-bet to 40,000 from the cutoff. When action reached McDonald in the big blind, he moved all in for 178,000. Schemion asked how much Newey had back (it was 209,000) and then moved all in over the top. Newey found himself between a rock and a hard place, but after thinking about it for a few moments he decided to call off.

Newey: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Schemion: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
McDonald: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

McDonald woke up with kings at the perfect time, but of course he needed to dodge an ace, queen, and spades. As for Newey, he was looking for some help to stay alive against Schemion in the side pot. The {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop was dry, though Newey tried to find the silver lining.

"There's a spade," he said, referencing his shot of hitting a runner-runner flush. Unfortunately for him, those hopes died when the {9-Diamonds} blanked on the turn. The {10-Diamonds} river failed to change anything, and Schemion took down the 62,000 side pot to eliminate Newey, while McDonald tripled with the 544,000 main pot.
