Even Rockets Can't Help the Flying Dutchman Stay in the Air

While Team PokerStars Pro Max Martinez is cruising with the chip leader and sending players to the rail early on Day 3, fellow Team Pro Marcel Luske has seen better days. He was just eliminated after getting his aces cracked by Santiago Nadal's pocket tens.

Luske was all in preflop for around 45,000 holding the {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}. Nadal held the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and spiked the winner after the board ran out {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

A Double Here, a Double There

  • Dominykas Karmazinas has jumped to near the top of the leader board after he doubled through Giuseppe Pantaleo. It was a cooler in a battle of the blinds, with the latter six-bet shoving with ace-king. Karmazinas snapped with aces and took down the biggest pot of the tournament so far.
  • Meanwhile, Lucille Cailly has doubled up through Andrew Badecker after she also found aces. Badecker had jacks and is now one of the short stacks.

Karmazinas Doubles Up Larichev

Dominykas Karmazinas raised to 6,000 in early position and Oleg Larichev moved all-in from the big blind. Karmazinas called and the pair went to showdown with Larichev at risk of elimination.

Larichev{K-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Karmazinas{K-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}

So Larichev was dominated, but the position would soon change on the flop.

Flop: {K-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {9-Spades}

Larichev took the lead and it stayed that way as the {9-Clubs} turn and {8-Hearts} river changed nothing.

Martinez PIcking Up Right Where He Left Off

Team PokerStars Pro Max Martinez finished as the chip leader last night and has picked up right where he left off today. He just busted Javier Gil Candelas to add some more chips to his mountainous stack and increase his chip lead.

From under the gun, Martinez raised to 6,000 before action folded to Candelas on the button. He reraised all in for 25,800. The blinds folded before Martinez made a quick called. He held the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} and was crushing all hopes Candelas had with the {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Candelas was eliminated.

I'm Loving Angels Instead

A dream start for Angel Guillen as he has doubled up through Elliot Smith.

Smith opened from under the gun and called quickly after Guillen shoved from two seats along.

Guillen: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Smith: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The board ran {10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{a-Clubs} to make the Mexican Team PokerStars a set and as stack to work with.

Obrestad Under Immediate Pressure

Anatoly Gurtovoy raised to 7,600 in the cutoff and Annette Obrestad defended her small blind. The flop was {6-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {2-Diamonds} and the action went very quickly. Obrestad checked, Gurtovoy bet 15,000 and Obrestad called. On the turn we saw the {4-Clubs} and again it was a quick tempo as Obrestad tapped the felt before Gurtovoy immediately bet 30,000. For the first time,Obrestad slowed the pace right down, and pondered her decision before calling. Finally we saw the {J-Clubs} and it was a case of dejavu. Obrestad quickly tapped the felt and Gurtovoy immediately announced, "all-in". If Obrestad called and was wrong - she was out. She thought for a very long time before eventually folding her hand.
