Ionut Voinea

Day 1s of the 2023 €560 Eurasian Poker Tour Main Event at 888poker Room in Bucharest are now over. Today, Friday, November 10 was the last opportunity to qualify for Day 2. A lot of players wanted to do so, as 173 participants were recorded on Day 1c, then 89 runners on Day 1d Turbo. Across all starting flights, a total of 486 entries were made on this EAPT Bucharest Main Event.

Ionut Voinea navigated through the large field of 1c perfectly, ending up with the biggest stack (826,000) and claiming the overall chip lead. Second in chips, Stefan Ionita bagged 644,000, just a few chips more than the third stack of the day (620,000).

Dan Maricuta was lucky enough to hit a full on the river in the last hour of 1c, building up a stack of 50 blinds (428,000) and surpassing Andrei Iordache (350,000) and Carmen Zainescu (300,000).

PokerNews didn't ask how he felt when the day ended, but Alexis Kivu was probably relieved after he almost bubbled Day 1a and failed to qualify on 1b. He finally made it and will be back on Day 2 with 271,000. Same feeling for Jonathan Klingenberg, who had a short stack but burst the bubble in a three-way all in to finish with 239,000, or for Andreia Coman. She had to fire a few bullets in the last days, but secured a stack of 103,000 chips.

For the last places on Day 2, players of Day 1d had to wait almost until sunrise to qualify, as Emeric Farkas was eliminated on the bubble at 5:40 a.m., after nineteen full levels of play. In the end, 13 players made it to Day 2, led by Dumitru Barta (657,000), who struggled to count his stack because of tiredness, and by Doru Horghidan (515,000).

Among all four flights, 69 players reached Day 2. However, there will be 73 players tomorrow, Saturday, November 11, as four lucky men out of a field of 30 entrants qualified through an Online Day. Claudiu Spatariu (461,000), Razvan Paduraru (268,000), Gheorghe Butuc (246,000), and Maciej Plocki (225,000) will now have to use their skills live.

Day 2 is set to begin at 2 p.m. local time, picking up at the earliest finishing time from one of the starting flights (25:00 in Level 14, 3,000/5,000 and a 5,000 big blind ante). Levels will also increase to 45 minutes, and the payouts will be announced at the beginning of the Day.

PokerNews will follow the action the entire way and provide live updates as the field whittles toward the final nine.

A Three-Way All In to Burst the Bubble

Nível 14 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Jonathan Klingenberg
Jonathan Klingenberg

While short stacks were praying to reach the money, one of them shoved for 64,000 in middle position. Then Jonathan Klingenberg reshoved for approximately 90,000 in the cutoff. And finally, Costel Tarciuc also added his 47,000 last chips in the pot from the big blind.

Costel Tarciuc: AQ
Middle position player: A10
Jonathan Klingenberg: KK

The flop of 2Q4 brought a pair to Tarciuc, who still needed more to stay in the tournament. But the K on the turn left Tarciuc and the second short stack drawing dead, as it gave a set to Klingenberg.

So after the river 5, both of them were eliminated at the same time, which means that the bubble burst and that the day is over.

Full and a Big Pot For Maricuta

Nível 14 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Dan Maricuta
Dan Maricuta

After an open to 13,000 by the player under the gun, Dan Maricuta called in the cutoff, and Mihai Isar defended from the big blind.

All three of them checked on the flop 834, then on the turn 3, Isar bet 13,000. The under-the-gun player folded, but Maricuta quickly called.

The 6 landed on the river, and Isar fired a second barrel of 38,000. But he was surprised to see that Maricuta raised to 104,000.

Isar snap-called anyway, but mucked his cards because Maricuta hit a full house on the river with 66.

Zainescu Loses A Big Pot

Carmen Zainescu
Carmen Zainescu

After she opened from under the gun and was called by the button, Carmen Zainescu checked the 6108 flop.

Her opponent took this opportunity to bet 5,000, then fire a second barrel of 15,500 on the turn 3. Both times, Zainescu check-called.

But on the river Q, the button asked for 40,000. It was too much for Zainescu, who folded.

Late registration came to a close after Level 9 ended. 173 participants were recorded on Day 1c, making it the largest of all four flights (Day 1d should be smaller). The day will conclude when 26 players remain, all of whom will be in the money.

Additionally, thanks to the early entrants of Day 1d Turbo, the €200,000 guarantee has been surpassed.

Petcu Hits the River

Nível 9 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Robert Petcu
Robert Petcu

Robert Petcu opened from early position and was called only once: by David Tennback in the big blind.

Tennback check-called a continuation bet of 1,600 on the flop 10K3, then both players checked the turn Q.

The 7 landed on the river, and all their chips quickly went into the pot, with Tennback having the smallest stack.

David Tennback: K10
Robert Petcu: 77

Tennback thought he trapped his opponent with two pair, but Petcu hit a set on the river to send Tennback to the rail.

Marius Kikinezhdi

Mert Tozlu raised to 3,200 from early position, and was only called by Marius Kikinezhdi in the big blind.

Both players checked the flop KQA. But on the turn 3, Kikinezhdi lead out with a bet of 3,200. Tozlu quickly called.

There was no more action on the river 9, so both players revealed their cards. Kikinezhdi had a very lose 74 and lost the pot against Tozlu's K10.

Jonas Degen
Jonas Degen

After he was almost eliminated on the bubble on Day 1b, Jonas Degen is back on Day 1c and he opened to 1,000 from middle position.

Alexandru Tudor in the cutoff was the only one to call to find the flop QK2, and called again a continuation bet of 1,000. But on the turn 8, he decided to fold after Degen fired a second barrel of 3,500.

On the next hand, Degen opened once again and was called twice. But after the small blind raised to 5,000, he four-bet to 12,000 and made everybody fold.
