When play gets back underway at 12:30 local time (in about an hour time), 36 players will take their seat. All of them are guaranteed AUD$30,000 right now, but they're gunning for a seat at the Final Table and get in the best position to win the first-place prize of AUD$1,600,000.
Play will be 6-handed from here on out, as per tradition at the Aussie Millions. Blinds will start at 5,000/10,000 with just over 43 minutes left in the level.
Leading the pack is Italian superstar Mustapha Kanit who, after crushing on Day 1b and having a bit of a slower Day 2, demolished the opposition again on Day 3. He gathered 2,318,000 in chips so far, more than double to his closest competitor (Marc Macdonnell, 1,078,000). Shortest stack coming back today is Brian Altman who'll just have five big blinds to start with.
Play gets underway in an hour, sit back and enjoy another full day of coverage of the Aussie Millions Main Event.
Shurane Vijayaram limped in from the under the gun as did Jennifer Tilly from the button. Nino Marotta was in the big blind and checked his option.
The flop came and the action checked around to Tilly. She led out for 20,000 and both her opponents called.
The turn brought the and Vijayaram and Marotta checked once again. Tilly moved all in for her remaining 50,000 and was snap-called by Marotta. Vijayaram folded.
Marotta:
Tilly:
Tilly had the lead with trip fours and the higher kicker until the dropped on the river. Marotta had made a straight which was enough to eliminate Tilly from the tournament in 29th place.
Players had not long returned from the break before there was an all in and a call over on the feature table. Brit Stephen Bantick was the at risk player finding himself short on a stack of 63,000 which went in the middle shortly after play resumed with Jeremy Joseph making the call.
Stephen Bantick:
Jeremy Joseph:
The board ran out to send Bantick to the rail while Joseph stacked up to 973,000.
In the first hand back from the break Nick Georgoulas moved all in for 470,000 from under the gun. The action folded to Nino Marotta in the cutoff who thought about his decision for a minute then called. The rest of the table folded before both players revealed their cards.
Marotta:
Georgoulas:
The board ran out to see Georgoulas unable to improve with his underpair and he was sent to the rail in 24th place.
Jeff Rossiter was first to act and opened for 45,000, followed by William Haughey three-betting to 117,000 with about 500,000 behind. Action folded around to Rossiter and he moved all in. Haughey called.
William Haughey:
Jeff Rossiter:
The flop was an interesting one; Haughey jumped into the lead but he wasn't home-safe just yet.
The on the turn gave Rossiter a straight and Haughey needed the board to pair to stay alive. The river didn't fill up Haughey as the meaningless came off.
William Haughey eliminated from the 2017 Aussie Millions Main Event.
The action folded around to Matthew Wakeman in the cutoff and he moved all in for 292,000. It got to Fedor Holz in the small blind and he asked for a count. The bet was for a huge percentage of Holz’s stack but after some deliberation he committed the chips to put Wakeman at risk.
Wakeman:
Holz:
Wakeman was behind but the flop arrived to give him a flush draw and a glimmer of hope. The turn changed nothing and the river also bricked off to see Wakeman eliminated and Holz essentially doubling up.
Koray Aldemir raised the button to 42,000 and the small blind quickly got out of the way. Big blind Jeremy Joseph, though, was down to just under 80,000 and moved all in. Aldemir didn't hesitate and called.
Jeremy Joseph:
Koray Aldemir:
The helped strengthen Aldemir's lead. Joseph was hoping for a king but it wouldn't come. Instead, the and completed the board and Joseph exited in 21st place.
Action folded around to Jeff Rossiter in the small blind and he moved all in to put the pressure on short stack Patrick Crivell in the big blind. Crivell, with 226,000 left it looked like, called all in.
Patrick Crivell:
Jeff Rossiter:
The flop was harmless for Crivell. The on the turn already made things a bit tricky and the the on the river sealed the deal. Crivell knocked out of the Aussie Millions Main Event in 20th place, good for 60,000 Australian dollars.
Sam Ruha has hit the rail after a good call went bad when he was run down by Koray Aldemir.
It folded to Aldemir in the small blind and he moved all in with enough to cover Ruha’s last 280,000. Ruha leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms before sliding in a call.
Ruha:
Aldemir:
Ruha had the lead until the flop saw Aldemir spike middle pair. By the turn Ruha was drawing dead before the inconsequential arrived on the river to make his elimination official.
A short-stacked Artur Koren became the architect of his own demise after opening the action with a raise to 100,000 from middle position. Chip leader Mustapha Kanit asked Koren how much more he had behind (28,000) before making the call from the button and the rest of the table got out of the way.
Koren moved all-in for the last of his chips on the monochrome flop and Kanit quickly called.
Artur Koren:
Mustapha Kanit:
Koren’s second pair was in front and the German player just needed to fade a diamond to stay alive. The turn kept Koren’s hopes alive but the river completed Kanit’s flush and Koren’s Aussie Millions Main Event run comes to an end.
