Huntly Unimpressed

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

With a flop showing {a-Spades}{2-Spades}{j-Clubs} the player in the small blind, as well as Dennis Huntly in the big blind, checked. The player on the button tossed out 1,100 and Huntly called. The big blind folded.

The turn brought the {k-Spades} and both players quickly checked.

After the {2-Diamonds} completed the board Huntly checked and his opponent followed suit.

The button then tabled his {2-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for trip deuces, much to the disappointment of Huntly.

"F****** serious?" muttered Huntly, holding his cards up and staring at them, before sliding them into the muck.

Top Pair For Tollerene

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
Ben Tollerene
Ben Tollerene

Ben Tollerene is back to over starting stack after winning a recent pot that went three-way to a flop of {j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}. It was checked to the player in the cutoff and he made it 1,375 to go. Tollerene called on the button as did the third party and they went to the {2-Diamonds} turn.

It was then checked through to Tollerene who decided on a bet of 5,000. The initial checker called and with the cutoff out of the way the {8-Clubs} rolled off on the river. Both players opted for a check on the end and the cards went on their backs.

Tollerene: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Opponent: {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Tollerene’s pair of jacks was good and he raked in the pot.

Demlakian Bites the Bullet(s)

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

We arrived at Ken Demlakian’s table just in time to catch his exit hand. There had evidently been a great deal of preflop action as the pot looked to be in the region of 20,000 or so with a flop of {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} showing with Demlakian and a tablemate the only two players involved.

First to act Demlakian announced he was all-in for around 10,000 with his opponent calling immediately, which is usually never a good sign.

It definitely wasn’t in this case and Demlakian’s {a-Spades}{k-Spades} was trailing to his opponent’s {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. The {3-Hearts} turn left Demlakian drawing dead and just to rub some salt into the wound the {5-Hearts} river gave his opponent the nut flush.

“Good hand,” said Demlakian tapping the table before heading for the rail while his opponent pulled in the 40,000 plus pot.

Edwards Climbing Up

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

The player in the small blind checked his option on the {9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop and was followed by Tim English and Luke Edwards in the next two seats.

The turn brought the {4-Diamonds} and the option fell on Edwards who tossed out 900. The small blind called. English folded.

The {4-Hearts} on the river saw the small blind check sending Edwards for his chips and splashing out 2,300. A moment passed before the small blind called only to muck his hand when Edwards revealed {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} for two pair.

Petrangelo and Peters Poles Apart

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Following an under the gun raise to 500 Nick Petrangelo and a player in the cutoff made the call taking the action three-way to a flop of {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

After the original raiser checked Petrangelo decided to take the initiative and led out for 1,500, which is enough to get both his opponent’s to bow out and he rakes in the pot to pad out his already ample stack to 63,000.

Unfortunately for Petrangelo’s high-rolling tablemate David Peters, he is on the other end of the chip spectrum and looked to be sitting on around 9,000.

Peters opens the action the following hand with a raise to 500 from middle position and picked up a caller in the big blind.

The flop fell {6-Clubs}{j-Spades}{q-Hearts} bringing a check from the big blind and a bet of 450 from Peters, which his opponent calls once again.

Both players checked the {2-Diamonds} turn before the big blind opened for 700 after the {9-Clubs} hit the river. Peters thought it over but passed, dropping down to 8,000.

Carrel Climbing

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Charlie Carrel continues to push his stack in the right direction after things escalated quickly on the river with the board reading {10-Clubs}{a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. It was heads up and when faced with a bet of 800, Carrel bumped it up to 4,500.

Carrel’s opponent slid his 800 back and loaded up a raise before deciding against it and throwing his hand in the muck. The dealer reminded the man of the 800 he’d taken back and when that was returned, Alexandra Janikova who was sitting between the two players argued that he couldn’t slide his 800 back and then simply fold.

Janikova discussed with the dealer whether the action was indicative of a raise or a call before ultimately a tournament supervisor was called over. While the consensus among tablemates seemed to be that there was no malice behind the action, the official ruling was a fold but the player was given a warning for angle shooting.

Sontheimer a Goner

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Steffen Sontheimer, who's leading the $100,000 Challenge that resumes on Saturday with seven players remaining, was seen walking away from the tournament area. We went in pursuit and asked him what had happened.

Sontheimer told us that he was down to just 6,400 when a player in front of him opened for 600. Sontheimer three-bet to 1,700 from the hijack and the player in the small blind cold four-bet to 3,400. The initial raiser asked for a count but folded, Sontheimer went with it and pushed for 6,400. His opponent called.

Sontheimer was up against {A-}{A-} with his {Q-}{Q-}. Things were looking good after the flop, though, as he hit top set to be on the verge of doubling up. Unfortunately for German high roller, the river was an ace to help his opponent take down the pot anyway.

"See you on Saturday!" Sontheimer said as he headed for the exit.

Watson Pressures Barer

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

With around 5,000 already in the pot and the board showing {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} Mike Watson bet out 4,200 from the big blind. Ami Barer was his opponent in the hand, and called, from the button.

The river brought the {3-Hearts} and Watson splashed out a bet totalling 6,625. Barer sat motionless for over a minute as he deliberated over his decision. Finally, he broke, looked down at his cards, then slid them into the muck relinquishing the hand.

Chew Takes Chips From Christner

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Stevan Chew is moving back towards the starting stack after taking a pot away from Christian Christner.

The board was spread {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Christner fired for 1,400. Chew wanted to play for more, however, putting in a sizable raise to 5,600.

Christer thought about it momentarily but ultimately threw his hand into the muck and Chew raked in the pot.
