Get Ready for the Last of Three Starting Days

Another day at the 2017 Aussie Millions, another starting day. Today, it's time for Day 1c, presumably the biggest of all three starting days. With 212 players entering Day 1a and 184 on Day 1b, what will today bring?

Once more the tournament will see seven 90-minute levels of play, with 15-minute breaks in between and a 75-minute dinner break following Level 4.

Late registration is open until the end of Level 8 (the first level of Day 2), so players are able to join the hunt all throughout the day. Be sure to stay with us at PokerNews for live coverage direct from the tournament floor here in Melbourne!

An Additional Event Announced: $50,000 No Limit Holdem Shot Clock Six Max

Crown Casino Melbourne has today announced there will be an additional event added to the 2017 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Tournament Schedule. The event, a $50,000-buy-in no limit hold'em Shot Clock Six Max event, is to take place on Sunday 29 January at 12:15 p.m.

Players will start with 20,000 in chips and blinds at 50 and a 100. Late registration and reentries will be available for the first nine 40-minute levels. Like the $100,000 Challenge, this event will be in the shot clock format with players having 30 seconds to act on their hand and receive three 'time breaker' chips which give them an additional minute of time each. The first nine levels are 40 minutes long, level duration will increase to 60 minutes after that. If a second day is needed, Day 2 will commence on Monday 30 January at 2:30 p.m.

The late arrivals are still trickling in but most players are in their seats and there is an audible buzz surrounding Crown’s Las Vegas poker room. Notables in today's field include Melbourne regular Dennis Huntly, high-stakes specialist Ben Tollerene, Taiwan’s Kitty Kuo, Hong Kong’s Alan Lau, Macau-based Winfred Yu, Jordon Westmoreland, Sebastian Clot, Roger Flueckiger and the UK’s Charlie Carrel and Stephen Chidwick.

Defending Champion Ari Engel has just uttered the four most exciting words in tournament poker and it is time to shuffle up and deal.

Is This a High Roller?

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

The field is massive for Day 1c already, with a lot of notables in there. A lot of the high rollers that are in town have decided to play today. Nick Petrangelo and David Peters sit right next to each other, just like coming Saturday when they take their seats at the $100,000 Challenge final table.

Westmorland Fires River

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

We caught the action on the river in a hand between Kitty Kuo and Jordan Westmorland.

With the community cards reading {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and over 5,600 in the pot Kuo, sitting in the cutoff was facing a Westmorland river bet of 4,000. Kuo looked interested but did eventually lay it down.

“Good fold,” quipped Westmorland, scooping in the pot.

Single Bet Takes it Down

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

After spending all day yesterday playing together in the $100,000 Challenge Nick Petrangelo and David Peters are both tablemates and neighbors in today’s starting flight.

The two players are in the small and big blind respectively and following an under the gun min-raise and a call both Petrangelo and Peters came along for the ride for some four-way action.

It was all check on the {7-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{5-Spades} flop so it was off to the {k-Hearts} turn before the first bet was made with the under the gun raiser leading out for 525. That was enough to get everyone else to bow out and the under the gun player raked in the pot.

Badziakouski Lets it Go

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Two more high rollers Mikita Badziakouski and Mike Watson are seated together for today’s starting flight, which should prove interesting.

Preflop it was Badziakouski who kicked off the action with a min-raise from middle position with an opponent sitting on the button three-betting to 625 in total. Watson folded from the small blind and after the big blind bowed out Badziakouski made the call.

Badziakouski checked the {5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} over to the aggressor who checked it back and the dealer burned and turned the {4-Diamonds} bringing another check from Badziakouski. The button bet 850 and Badziakouski bowed out.
