Demlakian Lets One Go Before Being Caught Out

Nível 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We caught the action on the turn in a hand involving 2016 PCA final tablist Ken Demlakian and an opponent sitting in the big blind.

There looked to be roughly 1,000 in the pot with the board reading {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Demlakian had just bet 400 from the button. The big blind check-raised to 1,500 and Demlakian thought it over for a little bit.

“I’ll let you have that one friend,” said Demlakian, pitching his cards into the muck.

The next hand was dealt speedily and following a raise to 400 from middle position and a call from a player in the hijack Demlakian decided to three-bet to 1,400 from the cutoff.

Both other players make the call and the action went three-way to a flop of {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. All three players checked taking the play to the {a-Spades} turn.

After both, the other players checked Demlakian led out for 2,300. The original raiser thought it over and called but the hijack folded taking play heads-up to the {10-Diamonds} river.

This brought another check from the original raiser and Demlakian fired again, leading out for 4,300. Demlakian’s opponent did not look happy about it but did make the call.

“You got it,” said Demlakian, turning over {4-Spades}{5-Spades}. His opponent did, turning over {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} to win the hand.

Gao Pays it Off

Nível 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The player in the cutoff raised to 500 and was called by Jie Gao in the small blind.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Gao checked. His opponent threw out a continuation bet totalling 700. Gao called.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and Gao check-called another bet of 1,600.

A third bet of 3,600 followed the {8-Hearts} on the river which sent Gao into the tank. After a few minutes he called, only to muck his hand, after his opponent showed {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for trip sevens.

Grafton Gives Some Away

Nível 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

On a board of {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} the player in the small blind led out for 400 before Sam Grafton made it 1,900 from the big blind. The action was four-handed and Grafton’s reraise was met with two folds before the small blind flicked in a call.

The {2-Spades} turn prompted two checks and the {5-Hearts} river double-paired the board. Again it was checked through and Grafton slammed down {4-Spades}{3-Hearts} which was way behind his opponent’s {q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} full house.

“Nice hand” Grafton confessed as the pot was awarded to his tablemate.

Chidwick Hooks One

Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

We caught the high-rolling Stephen Chidwick involved in a hand against a tablemate on a fairly wet flop of {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. There had obviously been some preflop action as the pot was already quite sizable.

As the out of position player in the hand Chidwick had led out for a bet of what looked to be 1,400 or so and his opponent, sitting on the button, had three-bet to 4,000.

Chidwick mulled it over for a minute or so before tossing in the call and the dealer burned and turned {k-Spades} which brought checks from both players.

The {8-Hearts} river brought a 2,500 bet from Chidwick and a call from the button and the cards were turned over, Chidwick’s {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} in front of his opponent’s {10-}{10-} and the Brit climbed to over 50,000 after the hand.

Grigg Gets A Couple Back

Nível 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

It appears Tom Grigg has had a rocky start here so far but he’s fighting back after taking down a three-handed pot.

After an open to 600, Ken Demlakian called next-to-act and Grigg defended his big blind before the flop fell a monochrome {5-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Grigg took the betting lead putting 800 into the middle and both opponents called to the {7-Diamonds} turn.

Grigg loaded up again and fired for 3,200 which was enough to take down the pot.

“Nice bet Sir” the initial opener conceded as Grigg added that pot to his 9,000 behind.

Carrel Jacks it Up in Blind Battle

Nível 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We arrived at Charlie Carrel’s table just in time to see the British player agonize over a tough decision with a stack of 18,425 behind. It appeared to be a blind on blind battle as Carrel, sitting in the small blind, had a bet of 3,600 out in front of him. His opponent in the big blind had an initial bet of 1,100 out on the felt but had put Carrel to the test and moved all-in.

Carrel looked torn and deliberated for several minutes but did eventually make the call, flipping over {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, which were leading his opponent’s {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

The Brit earned the double up when the board ran out {2-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} climbing to 36,850 while his unfortunate opponent dropped down to around 15,000.

As we got to the table, the turn was already out in a four-handed pot with defending champion Ari Engel on the button. The big blind and the hijack checked and Engel bet 1,750 on {6-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. The big blind called, the hijack folded.

The {7-Hearts} completed the board and the big blind bet out 4,150. Engel did one double take on his cards and raised to 11,500. The big blind carefully slid his cards into the muck, gifting the pot to Engel.

Watson Wins With No Show

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

We caught the action on a flop of {3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} in a heads-up pot between Mike Watson and a player sitting on the button. With around 1,100 in the pot already Watson opened for 900 and the button made the call.

The {4-Spades} turn brought a check from Watson and a bet of 1,600 from the button. The Canadian pro thought it over for a while before reaching for chips and check-raised to 5,625.

It was the button’s turn to tank though he did eventually make the call and the dealer rolled over the {6-Spades} river.

An impassive Watson now checked and after counting out some chips the button bet 8,700. Watson called quickly, winning without showdown when his opponent snap-folded.
