Here in Melbourne, when action is on you and you don't act before you've run out of time, you either check (if there's no bet before you) or you fold (if there's a bet waiting for you to call or not). In some other venues, a time bank chip is automatically put into play if you don't act in time with action is on you, while here at the Aussie Millions you have to announce yourself that you want to use the time breaker chip.
Just now, David Peters was facing a decision on a board. Steffen Sontheimer had bet 25,500 and Peters needed to make up his mind on what to do. He did not so in time, and his hand was declared dead. He was just a second too late with announcing he wanted to use a time breaker chip.
It's a timely game, no room for long tanks here in the $100,000 Challenge at the Aussie Millions.
There have not been any huge hands to speak of with small ball poker being in vogue at present. Rainer Kempe has moved all in over the top of several raisers but has received no callers so far.
However, Kempe’s short stack has dwindled still further with Ben Tollerene being the benefactor.
Preflop Kempe completed from the small blind and Tollerene raised it up to 3,300. Kempe tanked for 15 seconds before making the call and action went heads-up to the flop.
Kempe checked, Tollerene led out for 3,000 and Kempe check-raised to 8,700 in total. It was Tollerene’s turn to tank for 15 seconds before announcing he was all-in. Kempe did not take long to fold and dropped to 16,500 while Tollerene is sitting on 90,500 after the hand.

We caught the action on the river in a hand between Steffen Sontheimer and David Peters with over 25,000 already in the pot. With the board reading Sontheimer, sitting under the gun, led out for 16,500 sending Peters deep into the think tank.
Peters had just 1 second left on the clock before he threw in a time breaker chip for another minute's contemplation. However, he eventually folded, dropping down to 110,000 and now has just one time breaker chip left. Sontheimer climbed to 163,200 after the hand and has two time breaker chips remaining.

On a board of we saw Nick Petrangelo check from the hijack. Button Stephen Chidwick bet 8,000 and Petrangelo called. Petrangelo checked again on the river and Chidwick bet 16,000 with 28,000 behind. Petrangelo shoved all in and action was on Chidwick. The Brit tanked long (30 seconds) and hard, and needed some extra time. He in total needed two minutes so lost two time breaker chips, but eventually let it go.

We missed the preflop action but there was obviously some heavy betting as we arrived just in time to see Dan Shak move all in on a flop of in a hand against Alexandros Kolonias.
Kolonias called quickly and the cards were turned over.
Dan Shak:
Alexandros Kolonias:
Shak was trailing to Kolonias’ set of nines and the turn left the US player drawing dead. The river was merely a formality and Shak became the first casualty while Kolonias climbed to 148,000.

The hand right after Dan Shak's departure saw three players take a flop of . As all of them decided to check, the hit the turn. Holz (hijack) checked again and Kempe (cutoff) bet 4,100. Tollerene (ghost button) folded, Holz called.
The completed the board and Holz checked again. Kempe shoved all in for the few remaining chips he had left and Holz called so quick we couldn't count how much Kempe was all in for.
Kempe showed but was beat as Holz tabled for the same pair of jacks but with the better kicker.

The 11 remaining players are on their second 15-minute break of the day. When they return, they play another two 60-minute levels, followed by a 45-minute dinner break. When players return from that dinner break, registration will close.
