Lichtenberger Doubles Sukonthachartnant

Nível 8 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Andrew Lichtenberger
Andrew Lichtenberger

Andrew Lichtenberger opened for 2,700 from first position and saw his neighbor Sergio Aido three bet to 7,200 from the hijack. Phanlert Sukonthachartnant in the small blind cold called and Lichtenberger came along for the ride as well.

Phanlert Sukonthachartnant, winner of the APPT 2015 Asia Championship of Poker HK$250,000 High Roller in Macau back in november, checked on {Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and his example was followed by both Lichtenberger and Aido. The {5-Clubs} fell on the turn and Sukonthachartnant bet out 9,500. Lichtenberger raised to 25,000 almost instantly and Aido folded right away. Sukonthachartnant moved all in for 47,300 and Lichtenberger called.

Phanlert Sukonthachartnant: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Andrew Lichtenberger: {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Lichtenberger was drawing dead, no card could save him. The {7-Spades} on the river was dealt by the dealer anyway to make things official, and Lichtenberger handed over half his stack.

Urbanovich Shoves on Kozlov

Nível 8 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Martin Kozlov opened for 4,000 from the cutoff and was met by an all-in three-bet to 28,100 from Dzmitry Urbanovich in the small blind. Kozlov asked for a count and gave it some thought, but he ultimately released his hand.

Nothing exciting, but it gave us a good excuse to update you on both their stacks.

Mercier's Done After Aido Gets Lucky

Nível 8 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Andrew Lichtenberger just raised to 2,700 and Sergio Aido called, after which Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier moved all in from the small blind for 49,500. Mercier, having re-entered already, was at risk of being done for the day after Aido made the call.

Aido: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Mercier: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The board ran out {3-Spades}{A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Mercier wished the other players good luck as he headed for the exit.

Rast Doesn't Last Long

Nível 7 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Oliver Price
Oliver Price

Minute after taking his seat, Brian Rast is gone.

His quick demise came when he raised the button only to have Oliver Price three-bet to 8,200 from the big blind. Rats responded by four-betting all in for 47,200 and Price wasted little time in making the call.

Price: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Rast: {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Rast got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but he was drawing to two live cards. The {9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop gave him plenty of options despite Price pairing his queen, but neither the {4-Clubs} turn nor {Q-Diamonds} river was what he needed.

Rast immediately made his way to the registration desk, which is a good indication he plans to reenter.

Yan Loses Lots

Nível 7 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

[Removed:17] raised before the flop from first position and his neighbor Sam Greenwood in the cutoff made the call. Yan then check called all three streets on a board reading {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{J-Spades} {6-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. Greenwood's bet was 28,000 on the river and Yan called, leaving himself with just over 8,000. Greenwood instantly gave Yan the bad news as he showed {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for the back door flush. Yan mucked and was left with just 7 big blinds. The table broke immediately after that hand and the two found new tables to continue their tournament.

Enter Rast and Esfandiari

Nível 7 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Two new players have just jumped into the field in good friends Antonio Esfandiari and Brian Rast. If you recall, the latter had a good Aussie Millions last year when he final tabled the Main Event, ultimately finishing in fifth place.

Esfandiari explained they would have been here sooner, but bad weather yesterday forced them to spend an unexpected night in Sydney. Fortunately, they arrived with a few hours to spare in the late registration period.

Monster Pot Vaults Weiss Into the Chip Lead

Nível 7 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A huge hand just went down that saw three players get their stacks in the middle.

It began when action folded to Daniel Neilson on the button and he raised. Michael Weiss then three-bet from the small blind before Jesse Sylvia four-bet all in from the big for what looked to be over 40,000. Neilson, who had the biggest stack, then five-bet all in over the top, and Weiss called off for 87,300.

Weiss: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Sylvia: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Neilson: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

All three players held big hands, but Neilson took a hammerlock on the hand when the {5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop delivered him top set. Amazingly, the {10-Clubs} turn kept both of his opponents drawing live, and it just so happened the {J-Spades} spiked on the river to give Weiss the improbable runner-runner Broadway straight!

Sylvia was eliminated in the hand while Neilson sent the vast majority of his chips to his direct left.

Tollerene Check-Shoves River Against Chidwick

Nível 7 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

From the small blind, Ben Tollerene limped in. Stephen Chidwick raised to 4,000 from the big blind, and Tollerene called to take the {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop. Both players checked, and the turn was the {7-Clubs} to pair the board. Tollerene bet 4,500, Chidwick called, and the dealer finished the board with the {9-Diamonds}. Tollerene checked fifth street, and Chidwick fired 11,000 with a little over 33,000 behind. Tollerene check-raised all in, and Chidwick gave it up.
