Igor Kurganov opened for 9,000 from the hijack and was met by a three-bet to 23,000 from Pratyush Buddiga on the button. The blinds both folded, Kurganov called, and the duo watched the flop fall . Kurganov led out for 22,500, Buddiga called, and the dealer burned and turned the .
Kurganov moved all in for 65,000, and Buddiga called off for 61,500.

Kurganov was ahead with two pair, which meant Buddiga needed to catch on the river to stay alive. The didn't do it, and Buddiga wished the players good luck before heading to the rail.
Back in 2009, David Steicke topped a field of 23 entries to win this event for AU$1,200,000 (USD$852,442). Steicke was missing in action yesterday, and he's waited until now to jump in action.
Jason Koon opened the cutoff to 10,000 and Igor Kurganov on the button made the call. Sam Greenwood squeezed to 35,000 from the small blind and the big blind (Holz) and Koon both folded. Kurganov made the call.
Greenwood checked on and Kurganov checked behind. We saw something similar on the turn and the hit the river. Greenwood checked again and Kurganov tanked for a bit. His 30 seconds were almost up when he tossed in a time breaker chip to get one more minute.
He eventually checked behind and Greenwood showed for the ace-high flush. Kurganov silently mucked.
Brian Rast raised to 9,000 under the gun holding the and Fedor Holz called from the button with the . Jason Mercier then three-bet to 24,500 from the big blind with the , both his opponents called, and an action flop came down in the .
Mercier bet 23,000, Rast called with top pair, and Holz tanked, even using one of his time extensions, before moving all in for 48,500. Mercier then shoved all in over the top for 97,000, and Rast hit the tank. Rast used both of his time bank chips — which won't refresh today — before making the call.
Holz was ahead in the main pot, while Mercier led the side. The turn was of no consequence, but the river was as Mercier spiked a bigger flush to scoop both pots.
Holz was eliminated on the hand but opted to reenter straight away.
Registration is closed in the 2016 Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge. The tournament officially attracted 41 entries and created a prize pool of AU$4,018,000. That will be distributed to the top six finishers as follows:
Mike McDonald had lost a couple of big pots already and was down to his last 25,500. He got those in with from the big blind against Erik Seidel in the hijack who had . The board ran out and McDonald doubled his short stack. Seidel now short as well.
Igor Kurganov got his 147,000-stack in the middel from the cutoff against Jeff Rossiter in the big blind. Kurganov had the best hand with as Rossiter tabled . The board ran out and Kurganov doubled his stack.
We picked up the action on a board of and Jason Mercier checked from the hijack. Byron Kaverman on the button made a small bet of 15,000 and Mercier check raised to 67,500 after he used a time breaker chip first. Kaverman made the call.
The fell on the river and Mercier shoved all in for effectively 147,000 after giving it some thoughts. Kaverman, who had showing, tanked for a long time and eventually tossed in a time breaker chip. He thought some more before putting in his last time breaker chip as well. Eventually Kaverman reluctantly folded his hand.
Mercier had for a stone cold bluff and grabbed the chips in the pot! "What a spectacular bluff!" Somerville called it.
