Day 2 of the $100,000 Challenge Starts at 2:10 p.m.

Yesterday, a total of 29 players signed up for the 2016 Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge. The action didn't stop there, as eight reentries were made, making for a total of 37 entries. Registration is still open, however, so that number might just grow a bit more. Play starts at 2:10 p.m. local time, and players are still able to sign up or reenter till the end of the first level of play.

The first level to be played is an hour long and will see 2,000/4,000 blinds with an ante of 500. Signing up now will get players a crisp 100,000-chip starting bank and two fresh time-breaker chips.

Some players had to get a bit used to the shot clock yesterday, but soon enough everyone had the hang of it. With just 30 seconds to act on every decision, the tournament sometimes looked more like a limit event than a no-limit hold'em tournament. Even players that are known to take their time in normal tournaments got used to the fast-paced action.

The chip lead is in the hands of Stephen Chidwick and Brian Rast, who both bagged the exact same 387,500 (97 big blinds) on their first bullet. Igor Kurganov reentered no less than three times and made it through on his fourth bullet with 120,500 in chips (30 big blinds).

The short stack coming into the day is Paul Newey, who brings 59,500 (15 big blinds).

Today's plan is to play down to a final table. Jason Somerville is there to witness it all and talk you through it on the Aussie Millions live stream over on RunItUp.tv. The live stream starts at 2:30 p.m. with hole cards up on half-hour delay. The table that is featured will be randomly selected, and each and every break switched out for a new table.

PokerNews.com will be here to bring you updates from the first preflop raise till the last river card, and we'll be bringing you payout information as soon as registration closes after the first level of play. Stay tuned.

Greenwood Doubles Through Kurganov

Nível 9 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Sam Greenwood

Igor Kurganov raised to 9,000 from the cutoff and Sam Greenwood on the button stared at his chips. He counted how much he had left (111,000 after an earlier encounter that had cost him half his stack) and with about 10 seconds left he decided to make it 24,000.

Both blinds released and action was back on Kurganov. Kurganov thought about it for a bit, tossed in a time breaker chip to add a minute to his tank, and eventually shoved all in. Greenwood instantly called. Kurganov could only roll his eyes and sigh.

Igor Kurganov: {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
Sam Greenwood: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}

The {8-Spades}{K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} flop did nothing for Kurganov. Although the {J-Spades} on the turn gave Greenwood a flush draw on top of his already leading outs, it resulted in at least a chopportunity for Kurganov.

It wasn't meant to be as the {5-Clubs} hit the river and Kurganov was left with just 3.5 big blinds.

Koon Finishes Off Kurganov

Nível 9 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Martin Jacobson opened for 9,000 from the hijack and was met by a three-bet to 25,000 from Jason Koon in the small blind. Igor Kurganov then called off his last 12,000 from the big, Jacobson got out of the way, and the cards were turned up.

Kurganov: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Koon: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Kurganov needed some help to stay alive, but he was left wanting as the board ran out a dry {4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Kurganov busted the $100K Challenge for a fourth time, and he has until the end of this level to decide whether or not he wants to fire a fifth bullet, which would pretty much use up the money he won when he finished runner-up in the $25K Challenge a couple nights back.

Greenwood Rivers Two Pair

Nível 9 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Martin Jacobson opened the action with a raise from early position and Sam Greenwood defended from the big blind. Both players checked on {10-Spades}{K-Spades}{3-Spades} and the {2-Hearts} hit the turn. Greenwood check called a bet of 13,000 and the {5-Diamonds} completed the board. Greenwood checked and called the 35,000 bet that followed from Jacobson.

Jacobson showed {K-}{Q-} but wasn't good as Greenwood tabled {5-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the winner.
