The 2022 Wynn Summer Classic continues at Wynn Las Vegas and Day 1a of the $3,500 NLH Championship will begin shortly at noon local time.

During last year’s Wynn Summer Classic, the $3,500 NLH event had a million-dollar guarantee and was won by Chance Kornuth. This year, it’s the premier tournament of the series and features a massive $3,500,000 guarantee.

There are three starting flights and unlimited reentry is permitted per starting flight. Registration and reentries for each starting flight will be available until the start of level 10. Players will begin the tournament with 40,000 in chips and blinds will begin at 100/100/100. Levels are 40 minutes each on Day 1 and will increase to 60 minutes each on Day 2 and Day 3.

Day 1a will play 15 levels or until approximately 11% of the field remains. All other starting flights will play the same amount of time as Day 1a. Day 2 plays ten 60-minute levels on Monday, June 27, and Day 3 plays 60-minute levels on Tuesday, June 28 until a winner is declared.

This championship event of the 2022 Wynn Summer Classic series features the largest guarantee, although more tournaments are on the agenda through July 20. Less than a week ago, Manuel Machado won the $2,200 Wynn Mystery Bounty event for $410,485 plus bounties, and there are several more anticipated tournaments in the series featuring large guarantees.

Victor Ramdin Back on Winning Track in Wynn Summer Classic

Long-time talented poker pro Victor Ramdin, returned to the winner's circle for the first time since 2019. He shipped the $1,100 No-Limit Hold'em event, a $100,000 guaranteed tournament, at the Wynn Summer Classic on June 11.

Ramdin, who resides in Las Vegas, took home $44,013 as part of a heads-up chop arrangement with runner-up Brian Nadell, who received $39,725 for his efforts. Natascha Stamm, a German poker player finished in third place for $20,258, while talented pro Ari Engel was the fourth place finisher, good for $13,884. The tournament attracted 194 entries, creating a prize pool of $189,150 at the luxurious Las Vegas Strip casino.

For Ramdin, it's been a long time coming for a player who was once among the top earning tournament players in the world. He now has over $5 million in live tournament cashes, according to Hendon Mob. His biggest score was $1,331,889 in 2006 when he took down the $10,000 buy-in WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic. He has 57 World Series of Poker cashes among his impressive resume.

McKellar Scores Double Knockout

Ostapchenko Doubles Through Shelechi

Andrew Ostapchenko opened to 600 from under the gun and received calls from a player on the button, the small blind, and Mehrdad Shelechi out of the big blind.

Both blinds checked after the flop and Ostapchenko continued for 800. The button and small blind both called before Shelechi raised to 3,000. Ostapchenko counted out his stack before moving all in, eliciting quick folds from both the button and small blind players and a snap-call from Shelechi, who had Ostapchenko covered.

Ostapchenko was at risk and behind, needing to catch a diamond to make the nut flush. The turn changed nothing but the river provided the diamond Ostapchenko was looking for, handing him a full double up.

Platt Finds Call to Bust Opponent

The completed the board and the hijack jammed for 20,500. Platt barely had his opponent covered and looked at the board while mulling over his decision. Eventually, he put in the calling chips.

The hijack flipped over , while Platt tabled to collect the pot and send his opponent to the rail.

Platt Suffers Cooler

A player opened under the gun to 1,200 and Jeff Platt three-bet to 4,000 from one seat over only to see a player in late position shove all in. Action folded back around to Platt who made the call with the bigger stack.

Obara Picks Off Bluff

Jun Obara opened to 1,800 from late position and was called by Jeff Platt in the small blind as well as the player in the big blind.

All three players checked through the flop to the turn at which point Platt led out for 2,000. That got the big blind player to fold but Obara, unconvinced, called.

Platt fired off a second barrel, this time pushing a meatier 11,000 into the middle, on the river. Obara clearly did not believe his opponent and made a quick call. "Jack and an eight, probably not great," rhymed Platt as he showed down for the missed flush draw. Great or not, it was not good enough to win the pot as Obara held for top pair.

Loosli Doubles

Prior to this hand, Sylvain Loosli had slipped to just 20,500 or a shade over ten big blinds. Action folded around to the button, who opened to 5,000. Loosli moved all in from the small blind and the big blind player re-jammed with the larger stack. Once the button player folded Loosli was officially at risk.

Though all in for his tournament life, Loosli had his opponent dominated and was in a good place to double up. The flop all but sealed the deal, with the big blind player needing running hearts, threes or wheel cards to bust the French poker pro. The turn did provide a sweat with the big blind player picking up a gutshot but the river bricked out to bring Loolsi back up above starting stack.
