Fung Raises Foxen

Nível 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

Alex Foxen was in a heads-up pot against Altynai Fung in early position. Foxen checked on the board of {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and called when Fung bet 1,200.

Foxen then led out for 3,600 on the {6-Diamonds} river and Fung raised to 9,000. Foxen chewed his gum and sighed as he studied the board, eventually tossing his cards to the dealer for a fold.

"I had a big hand," Foxen said, telling Fung that he had jack-six for two pair. "Was I good?"

Fung only shrugged.

Joseph Cheong in a Previous Wynn Event
Joseph Cheong in a Previous Wynn Event

With roughly 10,000 in the pot on a {k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{8-Spades} board, Joseph Cheong check-called against Justin Saliba's bet of 7,000.

The {8-Spades} completed the board and after Cheong checked, Saliba jammed for 15,600. Cheong thought about it and called.

Saliba tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and Cheong showed {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} to claim the pot. Saliba re-entered and received a new stack of 40,000 chips.

Altman Crosses 100K

Nível 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

Brian Altman opened to 1,300 in the cutoff and the button flat-called, as did the player in the big blind.

The flop came {4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} and the big blind and Altman both checked. The button bet 1,700 and the big blind check-raised to 6,500. Altman flatted the raise and the button folded.

The big blind checked on the {10-Clubs} turn and Altman checked back, and the same action took place on the {2-Diamonds} river.

The big blind showed {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a missed flush and Altman tabled {j-Spades}{9-Spades} to win the pot with a pair of nines.

A Look Back at Last Year's Brutal "Wynn Millions Massacre" Hand

Nível 4 : 300/500, 500 ante
Alex Foxen and Bryn Kenney
Alex Foxen and Bryn Kenney

Last summer, the inaugural $10,000 buy-in, $10,000,000 GTD Wynn Millions attracted 1,328 entries over three starting flights, which surpassed the seven-figure guarantee by creating a $12,483,200 prize pool (the largest in Wynn Poker history).

On Day 2ab, 240 players returned with Bryn Kenney, tournament poker's all-time money leader, and his stack 376,500 leading the way. Coming in with the seventh-largest stack of 295,500 was Alex Foxen. Eventually, the latter was moved to the former's table and a hand for the ages would go down.

At the time, Foxen had chipped up into the chip lead ever so slightly over Kenney, who appeared to still be the other big stack in the room. That is when the two poker superstars had a head-on collision.

The hand took place early in Level 12 (1,500/2,500/2,500) when Kenney raised preflop and Foxen called from the hijack. The players on the button and in the big blind came along and it was four-way action to the {a-}{a-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop.

The big blind checked, Kenney continued for 9,000, and only Foxen called to see the turn, which was another {3-}.

Kenney bet again, this time 10,000, and Foxen just called to see a {q-} complete the board on the river.

This time Kenney checked and Foxen over-bet the pot to the tune of 112,000. Kenney woke up with an all-in check-raise to approximately 240,000, and Foxen, who barely had the bigger stack, snap-called.

Kenney tabled {a-}{q-} for aces full of queens, but it was no good as Foxen rolled over {3-}{3-} for quads.

With that, Kenney was eliminated while Foxen pulled in the largest pot of the tournament thus far (by a wide margin) chipping up to 650,000. It was a standout moment in an event that would go on to be nominated for "Event of the Year" at the Global Poker Awards.

Tice Four-Bets with Kings

Nível 4 : 300/500, 500 ante

Landon Tice opened to 1,100 in the hijack and the button three-bet to 3,800. The action folded back to Tice, who put in a four-bet to 8,500. His opponent called.

The flop came {2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{a-Hearts} and Tice checked. The button bet 4,000 and Tice called.

The turn brought the {10-Spades} and both players checked, and the same action took place on the {3-Hearts} river.

Tice tabled {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} to win the pot as his opponent showed {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for a pipped pocket pair.
