Woolschot's Aces Cracked

The full action was missed but Theodoor Woolschot was seen standing up from his table and walking away, with the rest of his chips heading over to the stack of Timo Kamphues.

Woolschot had AA and was up against the KK of Kamphues, but a king on the board meant disaster for the Dutchman, who was eliminated.

Flashback: Max Neugebauer Wins 2023 WSOP Europe Main Event

Last year at King’s Resort, Max Neugebauer became the newest WSOP Europe Main Event champion, prevailing over a record-setting field of 817 players to earn the title and €1,500,000 top prize.

The 26-year-old did it in spectacular fashion, with a hero call against Eric Tsai on the final hand of the tournament that ensured his name will forever be etched in WSOP lore.

Ju and Zamani Each Show a Red Ace

Samuel Ju opened to 900 from under the gun and was called by Matas Cimbolas on the button before Martin Zamani squeezed to 4,600 from the small blind. Mohamed Aissaoui called from the big blind and both Ju and Cimbolas also called.

The flop came K9J and Zamani fired a 4,000 continuation bet that Aissaoui and Ju called while Cimbolas got out of the way.

Zamani fired a second barrel for 13,000 on the 2 turn. Aissaoui opted to fold while Ju made the call.

On the 8 river Zamani sized down with a bet of 4,000. Ju raised to 18,000 and Zamani folded, showing the A from his hand as he did so.

Ju revealed the A from his hand before scooping the pot.

Kamphues Sets Up Im

Heads-up on a board of 392A, Timo Kamphues bet 8,000 from middle position and Youngshin Im raised to 28,000 in the big blind. Kamphues called and the Q fell on the river.

Im then bet 33,000 and Kamphues again called. Im showed A3 for two pair, but Kamphues had 99 for a set to win the pot.

At the same table, Cecile Ticherfatine has built her stack up to around 250,000 so far on Day 1a.

Martinsson Dominates with Two Pair

With about 17,900 in the pot and the flop revealing 57Q, all players opted to check.

When the 4 hit the turn, Alf Martinsson took the lead, betting 7,500. Both Luka Bojovic and William Trumm called the bet.

On the 5 river, Martinsson fired again, this time for 25,000. Bojovic quickly folded, but Trumm took a moment to think it over before ultimately deciding to call. Martinsson revealed AQ for two pair, queens and fives, leaving Trumm's cards to find the muck.

Zamani Down Bets the River

With four players seeing a board of K79 and around 14,000 in the middle Martin Zamani checked from the big blind and Igor Salimovic checked from middle position. Michael van der Ghinst bet 1,000 from the hijack and was called by Ovidiu Sava in the cutoff before Zamani made it 4,800. Salimovic got out of the way, Van der Ghinst called and Sava folded.

Zamani fired another barrel for 5,000 on the 2 turn and Van der Ghinst made the call,

On the 5 river Zamani sized down with a 2,000 bet that was called by Van der Ghinst. Zamani turned over top pair with K3 which was enough to take down a healthy pot.

Ko's River Shove Gets Through

A big pot was playing out on Table #83 where David Dongwoo Ko had shoved the river on a board of Q10852 for a little under 80,000 into a pot of around 85,000. His opponent, Armin Aghaie, was deep in the tank but eventually elected to fold, and Ko raked in the pot.

Strobel Coolers Peters For a Double

Wolfgang Strobel three-bet to 3,600 in the big blind and Mario Scholz called under the gun. Tobias Peters then four-bet to 14,200 in the hijack and Strobel five-bet to 36,000. Scholz folded, while Peters called.

The flop came 642 and Strobel moved all in for 33,100. Peters snap-called.

Peychev’s Queens Scoop a Massive Pot

Felix Neubauer limped in from early position, and Metodi Peychev raised 1,500 in the hijack. Jiri Kotvas on the button, along with Nils Pudel in the big blind and Neubauer, all decided to call.

The flop came down 710Q, and the action was checked around to Peychev, who bet 3,000. Kotvas, however, had other ideas and raised to 6,500, forcing Pudel and Neubauer to fold. Not backing down, Peychev made it 16,000, and Kotvas called.

On the 3 turn, Peychev fired a hefty bet of 30,000, which Kotvas called again.

Both players checked the J river, and Peychev showed QQ for a set of queens, taking down a massive pot after Kotvas mucked his cards.

Cappiello Shoves the River on Lukauskas

Ricardas Lukauskas raised to 1,500 in early position and Nick Palma called in middle position, as did Wolfgang Guenthel in the hijack. Candido Cappiello then three-bet to 6,500 in the cutoff and only Lukauskas called.

The flop came 964 and Cappiello bet 9,000. Lukauskas called and the 9 fell on the turn. Cappiello then bet 18,000 and Lukauskas again called.

The 5 fell on the river and Cappiello moved all in for 40,000. Lukauskas took a few minutes until folding as Cappiello took the pot.
