Slowing Down Now; Every Decision Counts

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #131: Moritz Kranich had the button. Elio Fox raised to 125,000 under the gun, and Brian Roberts three-bet to 270,000 from the big blind. Fox asked about how much he was playing (~2.6 million behind), then made the call to proceed. The dealer spread out a flop of {J-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {9-Spades}, and Roberts checked it over. Fox checked it back. The {3-Diamonds} turned, and Roberts checked again. Fox bet 275,000 now, and Roberts decided a check-raise was in order. He made it 690,000 total, and Fox folded rather quickly.

Hand #132: Chris Moorman had the button, Moritz Kranich raised to 125,000, and Elio Fox defended his big blind to proceed. The flop came {Q-Hearts} {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}, and Fox checked to the raiser. Kranich made it 155,000 to go, Roberts called, and the {4-Clubs} filled out the board. Kranich had to fire one more bullet, and 425,000 chips coaxed a fold from Roberts.

Hand #133: Unknown action.

Hand #134: Elio Fox had the button. Chris Moorman raised to 135,000. In the big blind, Dermot Blain reraised to 300,000 straight, and Moorman studied the situation carefully. He called eventually, and the flop came {K-Spades} {2-Clubs} {6-Spades}. Blain continued out with 450,000, and Moorman gulped as he watched him act. "How much did you start the hand with?" it sounded like he asked. After a couple more minutes, he made it 905,000 total, and Blain wasted no time folding.

Hand #135: Dermot Blain had the button. Brian Roberts opened with a raise to 120,000, Elio Fox and Dermot Blain called, and it came to Chris Moorman in the big blind. He squeezed in a reraise to 415,000, and Roberts folded his hand. Fox was thinking though, and he asked Moorman how much he was playing before making another raise. It was 830,000 total, folding Blain quickly out of the way and leaving the decision on the Brit. After some time, he folded.

That five-hand series took nearly 20 minutes.

Roberts Take Down The Final Hand Before The Break

Nível 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #136: Moritz Kranich had the button and he raised to 125,000 and Brian Roberts made the call from the big blind. The flop was the {J-Hearts} {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Roberts once again checked and this time Kranich bet 155,000 and Roberts made the call. The river card was the {A-Diamonds} and Roberts checked for a third time. Kranich counted out a bet and moved 245,000 across the line and Roberts called and we had a showdown.

Showdown

Kranich{8-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}

Roberts took the final hand before the break with a pair of aces.

Hand #143: Brian Roberts had the button. He raised to 160,000, the minimum allotted raise. In the small blind, Elio Fox reraised to 450,000. His three-bet went through uncontested and he won the pot.

Hand #144: Elio Fox had the button. Chris Moorman raise to 175,000 from under the gun. Moritz Kranich reraised to 425,000 from the big blind. Moorman folded and Kranich won the pot.

Hand #145: Dermot Blain had the button. He raised all in and won the pot.

Hand #146: Moritz Kranich had the button. Dermot Blain raised all in from the cutoff seat. This was the second hand in a row he shoved and once again, no one called.

Hand #147: Chris Moorman had the button. Dermot Blain raised to 175,000 from under the gun. Action folded to Brian Roberts and he asked for a count on Blain's stack. Roberts was in the small blind and reraised to 350,000. Elio Fox folded from the big blind and then Blain reraised all in. Roberts now asked for an exact count on the stack. He found out Blain was all in for 1.76 million.

Roberts spent several minutes in the tank before finally calling it off. He held the {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} to Blain's {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

The flop was {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Roberts was still in front with the better pair. The {9-Hearts} on the turn kept him in the lead and then the {2-Clubs} on the river finished things off.

Blain was eliminated in fifth place and earned a solid payday of €275,000.

Moorman and The Fox Both Bite Chunks Out Of Roberts

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #148: Brian Roberts had the button. Chris Moorman raised to 175,000 from the cutoff and Elio Fox three-bet to 450,000 from the small blind. Moritz Kranich moved out of the way in the big blind and the decision fell back to Moorman. Moorman moved all-in and Fox quickly folded.

Hand #149: Elio Fox owned the button, but it was Brian Roberts who raised to 160,000 in the cutoff. Fox stared at Roberts as if to say, "that was my move," before three-betting to 375,000. Moritz Kranich was in the small blind and he four-bet to 775,000! Moorman quickly folded and the action fell back on to Roberts who also folded. Fox moved all-in, and after four-betting a big proportion of his stack, Kranich folded.

Hand #150: Moritz Kranich had the button but folded to let the blinds bang it up. Chris Moorman raised out of the small blind and Brian Roberts called in the big blind. The flop was {K-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {7-Clubs} and both players checked. The turn was the {5-Spades} and Moorman decided it was his turn to make a move when he bet 250,000 and Roberts folded.

Hand #151: Chris Moorman had the button but it was a blind battle that ensued. Brian Roberts made up the loose change and Elio Fox raised the stakes when he made it 270,000 more to play. Roberts pulled back his initial bet and replaced it with a re-raise of 715,000. You could almost see the cogs whirring inside of the head of Fox trying to figure it all out. Fox then re-raised to a whopping 1,430,000 and Roberts folded instantly.

Hand #152: Brian Roberts had the button. Chris Moorman was first to act and he raised to 175,000 and Brian Roberts cold-called. The two of them saw a flop containing a full set of diamonds {8-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}. Moorman checked and Roberts bet 245,000. Action back to the man from the UK and he check-raised to 605,000, Roberts took a quick peek of his cards before making the call. The turn card was the {4-Diamonds} and this time Moorman was in no mood for checking, as he bet 675,000. It was time to have a diamond underneath your cards and Roberts increased the likelihood that he had one when he made the call. The final card in this monumental pot was the {A-Spades} and Moorman moved all in and Roberts immediately asked for a count. The dealer did his job and the confirmed word was 1,915,000 and Roberts went through the whole gamut of emotions before calling; Moorman winning the huge pot with the biggest diamond of them all. The unlucky Roberts had flopped the second nut flush!

Showdown

Brian Roberts Eliminated in 4th Place (€400,000)

Nível 28 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Brian Roberts - 4th place
Brian Roberts - 4th place

Hand #153: Elio Fox had the button. It folded to him, and he opened with a raise to win the blinds and antes.

Hand #154: Moritz Kranich had the button. When the table folded around to the blinds, Chris Moorman shoved in on Brian Roberts. No call.

Hand #155: Chris Moorman had the button, and he used it to raise to 175,000 and win this pot too.

Hand #156: Brian Roberts had the button, and we... well, we missed what happend. Raise-and-take, but we couldn't tell who. Apologies.

Hand #157: Elio Fox had the button, and he raised to 160,000. From the big blind, Chris Moorman reraised to 450,000, and Fox slid the call into the pot. The flop came {Q-Spades} {6-Clubs} {5-Hearts}, and Moorman followed up his raise with a bet of 475,000. Four plaques and three red chips. Fox called, very deliberately. The {7-Hearts} turned, and Moorman checked now. Check-check, and the {9-Spades} hit the river, drawing another check from Moorman. Fox took his cue to stab at the pot with 750,000, and Moorman gave it just a cursory look before surrendering.

Hand #158: Moritz Kranich had the button. For the second consecutive orbit, Moorman shoved in when it folded to his small blind. Brian Roberts quickly folded what he said was deuce-three the last time, but this time, he spent a while considering with a half-grin on his face. After about a minute, he made the call for his tournament life. The amount was never announced, but it looked like he had about 800,000 left in front of him when he committed. Cards up, gents:

Moorman: {Q-Hearts} {4-Hearts}
Roberts: {J-Clubs} {8-Hearts}

Roberts found his card on the flop as the dealer spread out {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} to pull him into the lead with two to come. Moorman had one overcard and the gutshot to try and chase down, but the turn {2-Hearts} was a blank. The river, however, would not be a blank. There was a moment's pause as the cameras caught the emotions of both players, and they were fixed firmly on Roberts as the river {5-Diamonds} ended his day.

Moorman catches his straight on the river, and he's sent Roberts off in fourth place. That's worth a cool €400,000, and it seems to be of some consolation as he conducts some talkative and rather jolly interviews with the production crew behind us.
