Martin Finger told us about a hand he played against Sergi Reixach. Finger raised from under the gun to 65,000. Sergi Reixach three-bet to 165,000 and Finger called.
The flop came and Finger check-raised Reixach's bet of 150,000 to 400,000 and Reixach called.
Finger bet the turn for 300,000 and Reixach called.
Finger moved all in on the river and Reixach folded. Finger showed before raking in the pot.
The cameras rushed over to the table where Jonathan Dwek (dressed as Superman) was in the tank, facing an all-in shove from Joe Hanrahan for 785,000 on the turn. After the hand, Dwek filled us in on the details leading up to that moment.
Hanrahan had raised to 65,000 in the cutoff and Dwek three-bet to 210,000 in the small blind. The big blind folded and Hanrahan called. On the flop, Dwek continued for 250,000 and Hanrahan raised it to 625,000. Dwek called and the turn was the , pairing the board. Dwek checked and Hanrahan moved all in for 785,000.
Dwek went into the tank and thought over the decision as the cameras pointed at him. He eventually put forward a stack to call, and Hanrahan looked less than thrilled.
Hanrahan:
Dwek:
Dwek's two pair, sevens and fives, was ahead, but Hanrahan could win with a diamond, an ace, or a queen.
The river was the , improving Dwek to sevens full, and Hanrahan was eliminated.
Just prior to the blinds going up, Kyle Bowler opened to 65,000 from middle position. Sam Phillps three-bet to 185,000 from the cutoff, Richard Tuhrim four-bet to 430,000 from the button, Bowker five-bet shoved for 1,575,000, Phillips folded, and Tuhrim asked for an exact count.
"I'm probably going to call," said Tuhrim.
'Well I'm glad you haven't called already," said Bowker.
"I'm still most likely going to call," said Tuhrim.
Upon the dealer confirming 1,575,000 as the amount, Tuhrim called.
Bowker:
Turhim:
The board came down , no help to Bowker, ending his Main Event.
Frank Crivello raised to 80,000 from under the gun and Eoghan O'Dea just called from one seat over. The flop fell and Crivello continued for 125,000, which O'Dea raised to 300,000. Crivello moved all in and O'Dea called.
O'Dea:
Crivello:
O'Dea was marginally ahead, but had to dodge a lot of outs in order to double. It was all over after the turn, giving Crivello a straight flush, and O'Dea even made the meaningless second-nut flush with the on the river. Only then O'Dea realized what had just happened and the Irishman headed to the payout desk.
Crivello stacked the chips and said, "You know you are running good when you hit a straight flush."
From middle position, Richard Robinson opened with a raise to 75,000. Action folded around to Daniel Sammarco who called from the small blind. Kenny Hallaert tagged along from the big blind.
On the flop, Sammarco led out with a bet of 125,000. Hallaert called and, after thinking about it for a while, Robinson called as well.
The turn was the , completing a straight draw. Sammarco and Hallaert both checked, then Robinson moved all in for 585,000. Sammarco quickly folded and that left Hallaert with the decision. For him to call it would cost him most of his stack.
Hallaert let out a deep sigh, leaned back, and dropped into the tank.
"Can I get a count please?" Hallaert asked. He tanked for nearly four minutes, cracking his knuckles, looking at the clocking, cutting out how many chips he would have left after he called. "Sorry guys," Hallaert said. Eventually, he kicked forward one of his cards, then another, folding.
"Show a fun card!" Someone said to Robinson at the table.
"They're both fun cards," Robinson said.
Hallaert cracked a smile despite losing the pot and dropping down under 1 million chips.
The action was folded around to Florian Lohnert on the button who raised to 100,000. Aaron Been was in the big blind and three-bet to 260,000. Lohnert took some time and then announced all in. Been quickly called for his remaining 1,360,000 and the cards were tabled.
Lohnert:
Been:
The flop came and Lohnert took the lead with a pair of aces. Been would need to catch a nine or running straight cards to stay alive. The turn was the and the river was the , providing no help to Been as he was eliminated. Lohnert scooped a hefty pot to climb over 4,000,000 chips.
Paul Senat raised to 90,000 from the cutoff and Kevin Song defended his big blind. The flop came .
Song checked to Senat who bet 135,000. Song called. The turn was the and Song check-called another bet of 260,000 from his opponent.
The river was the . Song checked for a third time and Senat bet 385,000. Song called instantly, but mucked when Senat tabled for two pair, kings and threes.
