Arieh Among Recent Entries

If Josh Arieh was dealing with some disappointment after coming close to his first bracelet in over a decade, he isn't letting it slow him down. Last night, Arieh battled hard and held the chip lead for much of Day 3 in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Championship. However, he faded at the end at the expense of Bryce Yockey who went on to win the event. Arieh finished third for $216,077.

Arieh didn't miss a beat, though, showing up in Level 1 for this tournament, and he's looking to make another deep run and close out strong this time.

Thomas Boivin vs. Tim Reilly

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante
Thomas Boivin
Thomas Boivin

Thomas Boivin and Tim Reilly are sitting right next to each other, and just now they were involved in a hand against one another.

Tim Reilly recently finished in fourth place in Event #23: THE MARATHON - $2,620 No-Limit Hold'em cashing $224,316, his second highest cash ever. Meanwhile Thomas Boivin finished second in Event #43: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em SHOOTOUT. He cashed $159,273 for that achievement, which is also his second-highest cash ever.

In the hand Boivin raised to 300 from the small blind and Reilly called from the big blind. The flop came {7-Hearts}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Boivin bet 350 and Reilly called. The turn gave them the {10-Spades}. Boivin bet 1,300, Reilly raised to 3,300 and Boivin called.

The {Q-Hearts} on the river completed the board, and Boivin check-called the 5,500 bet of Reilly. Reilly showed {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} but was bested by Boivin who showed {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for a turned straight to win the pot.

Bad River for Engel

Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Ari Engel was up against a player in the big blind, who led out 650 on the {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} turn. Engel opted for a raise, making it 2,150. His opponent called to see the {4-Clubs} river.

The player in the big blind checked quickly, and Engel paused for a few seconds before checking back. He saved himself from a deeper wound as his rival rolled over {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a flush.

The first level hasn't been going well for Engel, who's already more than 70 big blinds shorter.

Melissa Gillett was in the cutoff, facing an opponent sitting in the hijack.

Both players checked the turn with the board showing {8-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, then the {J-Hearts} fell on the river. The player in the hijack led out 1,100 this time and Gillett called, but mucked after seeing her opponent's {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for top two pair.

Metaal Joins the Superstar Table

Nível 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

One table stands out in the Amazon Tan, boasting several well known faces from the poker globe.

Dani Stern arrived for an early 11 a.m. start just like he did for yesterday's Day 1 of the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship. Two seats to Stern's right, there's Shannon Shorr. And two seats to Shorr's left one finds Ari Engel.

Add one more familiar name to the table as well, as Govert Metaal just arrived with his tournament receipt, taking a hot seat between Shorr and Stern.

Metaal is fresh off a sixth-place finish in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Bounty tournament for $48,386. The Dutch poker aficionado will face even tougher field in this tournament, but Metaal has been a regular in the €10,000 high rollers in Europe and has a ton of experience battling in stacked fields.
