After just a couple of levels, players are taking a short 15-minute break in order to make room for players coming in for Day 1b of the Colossus. Play will resume shortly with just eight levels of play remaining and one more 20-minute break.
Hugo Perez lost a monster pot earlier in the day with pocket queens versus ace-king in the classic race scenario. After losing that pot, Perez was down to only 400 chips — two big blinds. He was able to triple up from that stack with on an board and, since then, Perez has been smooth sailing grinding his stack back up to a reasonable 26,000.
Perez was known for being the top player in Peru in terms of live tournament earnings with over $500,000 but was recently passed by one of his fellow countrymen. He is now back at the 2017 WSOP looking to regain that honour, and there is no better tournament to score a big cash in than the Colossus.

Greg Raymer got all of his chips in with against Moorman's pocket nines and was able to hit a queen. Raymer doubled up his short stack to around 12,000 and Moorman slipped down the ranks, sitting at around 7,500.
Melanie Weisner raised to 1,600 from under-the-gun and Prez G called from the button. The big blind also tagged along to see the flop that came . Both the big blind and Weisner checked and Prez bet 2,000. The big blind folded and Weisner called. The turn was the and both players checked. On the river, Weisner checked again and Prez tossed out a bet of 4,500. Weisner called and Prez tabled for a full house and Weisner tossed her cards away.
Soon after, Weisner got her remaining 4,800 chips in the middle with and was called by . Unfortunately for Weisner, she was unable to catch up and was eliminated from the first flight of the Colossus.
