Event #49: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed

Dia 1 Começado

Event #49: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed

Event #49: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed kicks off today at 3 p.m. Viatcheslav Ortynskiy is the reigning champion of the event; he bested a field of 580 players to win his first gold bracelet and the $344,327 first-place prize in last year's WSOP. That final table also included bracelet winner Randy Ohel, who took third.

This uniquely-structured event is scheduled to last three days with Day 1 being held in the Amazon room at the Rio. For the $3,000 buy-in, players will receive 15,000 chips and levels will last 60 minutes. Late registration is open through eight levels of play and will close at approximately 12 a.m. Day 1 includes 10 levels of play with 15-minute breaks every two levels.

In one of the first hands of the day, Caufman Talley was in the big blind, heads up against Dieyar Kakel on the button.

With the board reading {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}, they each put in 6,000 on the river and Talley tabled {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs} for aces full of threes. Kakel mucked and Talley took down a big pot early in the day.

Loren Klein Going for Two in One Week?

Loren Klein won his second WSOP gold bracelet earlier this week in Event #41: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha for $231,483. His first bracelet came in last year's series when he took down the $1,500 Mixed Pot-Limit Omaha/No-Limit Hold'em event for a payday of $241,427.

Apparently, pot-limit Omaha is his game. Compared to the tournaments he won, the buy-in today is twice as much and there are fewer players at each table. We will see how Klein fares in this format. He is currently seated at a table with Mike Sexton to his immediate right.

The Defending Champion Takes His Seat

Viatcheslav Ortynskiy emerged victorious in this event last year, taking home $344,327 and his first gold bracelet for his efforts, and he's taken his seat today to make a run at back-to-back wins.

However, he's not the only PLO bracelet winner with his sights set on his second bracelet. Tyler Groth just won his first bracelet earlier this summer in Event #25: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, and he has recently joined the field as well.

Several more well-known players have also taken their seats recently in this event, including Andy Black, Bruno Fitoussi, Maxx Coleman, and Toby Joyce.
