Adam Owen Leads 26 Players Into Day 2 of 2-7 Triple Draw Championship
Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino and the 2017 World Series of Poker (WSOP) for Day 2 of the Event #34: $10,000 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw Championship!
Saturday saw 80 players take to the felt to create a $752,000 prize pool that will award the final 12 players a guaranteed $15,584 in prize money while $232,738 will await whoever is victorious here in Event #34. Although the field was relatively small, it was still stacked with notables as the likes of Robert Mizrachi, Paul Volpe, John Monnette, Frank Kassela, Daniel Negreanu, Abe Mosseri, Mike Gorodinsky, Brandon Shack-Harris, and Jesse Martin all were unable to add another bracelet to the trophy case after being eliminated throughout the day.
One player who has yet to claim a bracelet is Englishman Adam Owen. Owen has collected multiple top-10 finishes here at the WSOP with his best showing in the $10,000 Razz Championship a few years ago when he finished third behind Phil Hellmuth and Mike Gorodinsky for $104,914. Owen, however, will be looking to change that here in Event #34 and, after bagging the chip lead with an impressive 336,000 in the early hours of the morning, he'll be using that as a stepping block to potential WSOP success.
Sitting right behind Owen is Australian Robert Campbell who bagged 291,000 while [Removed:412] (264,500), Mike Watson (261,500), Mike Ross (248,000), James Obst (227,000), David Benyamine (223,500), and Anthony Zinno (204,000) round out the players in the 200,000-chip club. WSOP stalwarts Konstantin Puchkv, Mark Gregorich, Mike Wattel, Nick Schulman, Mike Matusow, and Todd Brunson are all spread out amongst the remaining 26 players.
