De Silva Arrives and Takes from Ruzicka

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Upeshka De Silva, who won his second career bracelet earlier this series, just arrived at the table of Vojtech Ruzicka and the duo immediately got involved in a three-way hand. A raise to 2,600 was called by De Silva in late position and Ruzicka on the button.

On the {J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop, the action checked to Ruzicka and he bet 5,000, both opponents called. After the {Q-Spades} turn the trio checked and the {3-Diamonds} river saw a check by the initial raiser. De Silva bet 24,300 for almost the size of the pot and Ruzicka called, the third player in the hand folded.

"I have a set," De Silva announced and rolled over {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Ruzicka mucked his cards and lost one third of his stack as a result.

Mike Leah Cashes in On the River

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Mike Leah
Mike Leah

The player from under-the-gun raised to 2,700 and the small blind called, as well as Mike Leah in the big blind. The dealer fanned the flop of {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Spades} and the action was checked to the preflop aggressor. He bet 3,400 and the small blind folded while Leah made the call.

The turn was the {K-Hearts} and Leah checked again. His opponent bet 11,500 and Leah just called. The river was the {4-Spades} and Leah checked for the third time. His opponent thought for a couple minutes before making a bet of 27,000. The action was back on Leah and the all-in button was placed in front of him after announcing it to the dealer.

That sent his opponent into the tank for nearly four minutes before the clock was called. He was given 30 seconds to act before his hand was dead, but he chose to fold before the time was up. Leah used a timely check-raise on the river to bully his opponent out of the pot.

A Second Chance for Lie

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After a raise to 3,100, Aylar Lie moved all in from the small blind and the initial raiser called and tabled his {A-Spades}{7-Spades}. Lie was ahead with {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and flopped two pair on {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. "Well, that's a good start," her opponent said and the {4-Diamonds} turn and {Q-Clubs} river changed nothing anymore.

Lie doubled for 25,000 and said, "I started with a good stack today, but everything went wrong."

Another player at the table remarked, "Now you have a second chance," while Lie was busy stacking the chips.

Aces Running Wild

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Pocket aces have been getting passed around today and showing up quite often. Luckily, they have been holding up for most players. Kristen Bicknell was holding the strongest starting hand in poker and was facing a raise of 2,800. Bicknell put in a three-bet to 10,700 and the action folded back around to her opponent who piled his remaining 63,000 chips in the middle. Bicknell quickly called and was up against the pocket kings of her opponent. The board ran out {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Bicknell scooped a big pot.

Merely seconds later, just two tables away, Mike Leah opened from middle position to 3,000. His opponent moved all in for around 25,000 and the action was folded back to Leah. He said to his opponent sitting beside him, "I've only looked at one card, do you want to sweat with me?". The two were friends, so they agreed to look at the second card together. It just so happened that Leah was holding pocket aces as well and quickly made the call. His opponent held {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and was drawing dead by the turn.

Yu Back In It; Boyd Eliminated

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Dutch Boyd
Dutch Boyd

Ben Yu is back in it and just chopped a pot to up his stack slightly while Dutch Boyd has been eliminated.

Yu raised from under the gun to 3,300 and was called three ways to see a flop of {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{5-Spades}. It checked to the player on the button, who bet 6,000 and just Yu called. Yu check-called another bet of 6,000 on the {A-Hearts} turn before moving all in for more than 22,000 on the {K-Spades} river.

His oppponent called with {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Yu chopped it up with the {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

One table over, Dutch Boyd had just been moved to a new seat when Justin Young raised to 2,700. Severin Schleser three-bet to 8,200 and Boyd four-bet to 25,000 with around 22,000 behind.

Young folded, but Schleser moved all in to see Boyd call it off with pocket jacks. Schleser had ace-king and spiked an ace on the river to eliminate the three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner.
