Holm Takes Down Lewis

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Mike Holm doubled Toby Lewis a few minutes ago but the Englishman didn't keep the chips for long as they bounced back to Holm like a boomerang.

Holm himself reported that Lewis shoved all in with pocket jacks and he called with {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. "I hit an ace, that's how it's supposed to work."

Lewis is out while Holm is back up to 200,000.

Mike Holm Still Here

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Sitting at Matt Berkey's table, Mike Holm had something to say: "Mike Holm, I'm still here. That's all you gotta put." Remember those Holm's battles with Justin Bonomo from earlier today? Well, Holm outlasted the high roller. "It's a miracle," Holm said about his run.

Holm is indeed still in the tournament, despite an unlucky hand that occurred right after his speech.

Holm opened to 15,000 and Toby Lewis shipped in his remaining 26,000 from the big blind. Holm called.

Mike Holm: {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Toby Lewis: {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Toby Lewis' kicker was trailing to Holm's, but he spiked an eight-ball on the {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Spades} flop. Lewis then dodged all of Holm's outs on the {5-Clubs} turn and {4-Clubs} river to double. Holm was left with 118,000.

"What Would You Do?" by Layne Flack

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Layne Flack is visibly enjoying his time at a poker table he shares with Demosthenes Kiriopoulos (to whom he refers as "DK"), Matt Stout, Daniel Weinman, Ilkin Amirov and Jeremy Joseph.

There are a lot of talks during hands and between, and Flack is the leading voice of the chat. He's proposing interesting questions.

"What would you do, if someone said they'll pay you for playing poker but you wouldn't get any of your winnings. What would be your hourly price?"

Flack followed it with an example. "Let's say you'd get $200 per hour. It's like $70,000 for the World Series. Would you accept that?"

More to the talks, he turned it the other way around: "And would you be willing to pay me those $70,000 if I asked?"

Daniel Weinman seemed to be fascinated about the proposal, thinking about poker from this perspective.

"I have another one, you'll like this one," Flack changed the subject. "If you were forbidden to say winning, what would you say is the best thing about playing poker?"

Meanwhile, he still has a shot at winning this tournament, sitting on more than 500,000. There are 40 players left, and a top-five finish would secure Flack larger paycheck than those suggested $70,000 for the whole WSOP.

Haag: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Bonomo was dominated and in trouble, gathering his belongings as a {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} board sealed his fate.

Bonomo picks up $8,187 for his 40th place finish.

Stout Wins a Three-Way Pot

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Matt Stout opened the cutoff, inviting Ilkin Amirov (button) and Demosthenes Kiriopoulos (big blind) to the {J-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. Kiriopulos checked and so did Stout, who gave up the betting lead to Amirov.

Amirov bet 27,000, evoking a call from Kiriopulos and a check-raise from Stout who made it 80,000. Amirov let his cards go but Kiriopoulos was interesting in seeing the {Q-Clubs} turn. There, however, Kiriopoulos check-folded to another bet and Stout finally took down this pot.

Murray Sends Linard Packing

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Cutoff Brett Murray opened to 12,000. The prize went up to 35,000 as Louis Linard three-bet from the button. Murray four-bet shoved all in and Linard called for roughly 140,000.

Louis Linard: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Brett Murray: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

It was a fair race but Linard got the bitter piece as the cards {2-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} landed on the table, rivering Linard out of the tournament.
