Semin Wins a Race vs. Perez

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Hugo Perez opened to 2,600 and Mikhail Semin moved all in for 30,200. Action folded back to Perez who called right away.

Hugo Perez: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Mikhail Semin: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The community cards — {4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades} — favored Semin, who scored nearly a full double. Perez was standing up, but players at the table suggested he should double-check whether he was really covered. It was close, but Semin had one or two big blinds more and Perez is out.

Agarwal Puts Bolek to a Test

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Aditya Agarwal came back to one of the biggest stacks in the tournament room and he's maneuvering it with aggression.

Just now Agarwal was on the button, playing a heads-up pot against Chris Bolek who was in early position. Bolek checked to Agarwal on the turn {4-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and then called Agarwal's bet of 8,000.

The {5-Clubs} completed the board and Bolek checked once again. Agarwal announced he was all in this time, and he had Bolek covered. Bolek thought his options through, but decided to leave this one to Agarwal and continue with his remaining 26,000.

Bonomo Bolts Into the Chip Lead

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

We picked up the action on the turn of a 40,000-chip pot and a board reading {2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. Justin Bonomo was facing a bet of 18,300 and made the call.

The river was the {q-Hearts} and Bonomo's opponent checked. Bonomo thought for just a moment before announcing he was all in. This put Bonomo's opponent deep into the tank.

About five minutes went by without Bonomo flinching in the slightest. His opponent squirmed and agonized over the decision before eventually making the call.

Bonomo tabled {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for two pair and his opponent mucked {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}, having made a pair of aces but bricking out on a nut-flush draw.

With the pot, Bonomo appears to be the new tournament chip leader.

Konnikova Eliminated by Wright

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Maria Konnikova, author of the New York Times bestseller Mastermind: How to Think Like Sherlock Holmes, has been eliminated.

Konnikova was short-stacked long before the bubble and her stack dropped even more today. She eventually ended up all in against two opponents, as they continued playing for a side pot through the {J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} board.

Konnikova then showed {A-Spades}{7-Clubs} but her bottom pair wasn't good as Erick Wright turned over {J-Spades}{8-Clubs} for a straight. Wright offered a "good game" and Konnikova thanked him before leaving with a member of the payout crew.

Wright is off to a great start, nearly doubling his stack within the first 15 minutes of today's play.

Rajaee Wazwaz: {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Payouts! Payouts! Payouts!

Nível 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

As we started just in the money after yesterday's bubble, there are many casualties early into Day 2. Short stacks are trying to spin their way up, knowing it's the right time to do so as they don't risk any pay jump at the moment.

One of those who lasted only one hand was Swedish player Thomas Pettersson. There were three stacks left abandoned on his table as the players were late. Pettersson shoved his remaining five big blinds with {J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} but ran into the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} of Anthony Marquez.

The {5-}{A-}{10-}{4-}{6-} board brought too little for Pettersson, leaving him with the $2,247 min-cash.
