Tom Dwan
Tom Dwan

High-stakes crusher and poker icon Tom Dwan was unable to make it through Day 3 of the 2023 World Series of Poker Main Event, busting just before the dinner break.

Dwan entered the biggest Main Event ever on Day 2 and spun up his starting stack to 426,500 by the time the session ended. His table was selected for the live-streamed feature table on PokerGO, and he started today's action with his chip count heading in the right direction until a few pots didn't go his way.

On Level 13, with the blinds at 2,000/4,000/4,000, Dwan had a stack of 311,000 in front of him. He opened K5 to 10,000 from early position and called when Brian Atchison three-bet to 25,000 with AA.

Action was picked up on the river. Players were heads up, the board read 34JQ9 and there was about 110,000 in the pot. Brandon Shack-Harris had checked and Lander Lijo had moved all in for approximately 115,000, sending Shack-Harris into the tank.

After a couple minutes Shack-Harris put in the call only to be shown the bad news when Lijo tabled JJ for a set of jacks to secure a full double up.

Belluscio Torn Down by Tweedlie

Nível 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Julio Belluscio
Julio Belluscio

Former chip leader Julio Belluscio got involved in another pot on Day 3 of the Main Event. A board of 5922 was fanned out, with around 55,000 chips in the middle.

Belluscio checked from the big blind after which Michael Tweedlie made an overbet of 80,000 from early position. A third player quickly got out of the way before Belluscio confirmed the amount and made the call.

The Q river then fell and Belluscio checked to Tweedlie. Tweedlie would make another massive bet when he shoved all in for 329,500 chips, a stack worth more than the current average.

Belluscio went over his options for a few minutes before ultimately sticking in the call. Tweedlie showed down 55 for fives full of deuces, and Belluscio was forced to show his Q9 for two pair.

Belluscio had over one million not too long ago, but now is playing a stack worth just over 100,000 chips in the third level of Day 3.

Tom Dwan Goes Down to Aces

Nível 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Tom Dwan
Tom Dwan

Tom Dwan opened early to 10,000 with K5, then called a three-bet from Brian Atchison to 25,000 in the hijack with the rockets. The flop came 310J and Dwan check-called a 55,000 bet into a pot of 60,000.

The 5 hit the turn, and Dwan once again checked to Atchison, who made it 110,000. Dwan check-shoved with his pair and flush draw, but Atchison nearly beat him into the pot with his aces. The 10 river couldn't save Dwan and he hit the rail from the feature table.

Wu Wins a Free Beer and the Pot

Nível 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Andrew Wu
Andrew Wu

Andrew Wu in middle position limped in, the player in the hijack raised to 14,000, the big blind called and so did Wu.

Three-ways to a flop of 27K. The action checked to the hijack who bet out 13,000. Only Wu continued.

The 3 turn checked through to the 10 on the river. Wu now took the lead for 38,000.

The player in the hijack thought for a considerable amount of time. Perhaps in the hope of speeding up the decision, Wu told his opponent "Don't call!". The hijack seemingly listen and folded his hand.

Another player at the table begged Wu to show his cards.

"Buy me a beer and I'll show you" he replied as he tabled 33 for a turned set.

The next time PokerNews walked past Wu's seat, he had a beer beside his chip stack.
