Catching Up with the Foxens

Nível 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Kristen Foxen
Kristen Foxen

Over in the Horseshoe ballroom, Kristen Foxen and Alex Foxen are battling it out on Day 1c of the Main Event. In the blue section, Kristen is being forced to grind a short stack after a rough start to the day. However, just recently, she raised to 1,000 in early position and Hang Xu defended from the big blind.

The flop came AA8 and Xu check-called a bet of 600 from Foxen. The turn was the 6 and both players checked to the 5 on the river. Xu checked again and Foxen threw in a bet of 3,000. Xu called and Foxen turned over A10 to scoop the pot.

Across the aisle, Alex is having a much more pleasant day thus far as he has continued to stack chips ever since sitting down. James Crowshaw opened to 1,000 in early position and picked up two callers before Foxen made it 4,500 in the cutoff. Crowshaw called and a third player tagged along as well.

The flop fell 1053 and the action checked to Foxen who continued with a bet of 5,300. Crowshaw called and the other player folded. The turn was the 5 and Crowshaw check-called another bet of 14,000 from Foxen. The 2 completed the board and Crowshaw checked once more. Foxen announced all in as the bigger stack and Crowshaw instantly folded.

Reknar Sees Through Jorstad

Nível 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

The A102J7 board was out there and Espen Jorstad bet 7,500 into Girish Reknar. Reknar, who made a final table earlier this summer, called it off after some thought.

Jorstad rolled over 53 — nearly the nut low — in such a confident way that Reknar had to do a double take before revealing his 109. His third pair was good, though, and he celebrated it with a slightly exaggerated fist pump to which Jorstad could only smile.

Nistala Wins With No Showdown

Nível 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

A player in middle position limped only to see a raise to 1,500 come from the cutoff. Sreekanth Nistala called from the big blind as did the middle position limper to see a 753 flop.

Action checked through to the K turn and Nistala checked again. The player in middle position bet out 6,000 and both the cutoff and Nistala tossed in a call and all three headed to the 5 river.

Nistala led out with a bet of 10,000 and got folds from both his opponents, winning the pot without showdown.

Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

Mustapha Kanit opened to 1,100 from early position and a player in the small blind three-bet to 4,100. Kanit made the call.

The flop came 1034. The small blind bet 5,500, receiving a call from Kanit.

The small blind slowed down with a check on the 10 turn. Perhaps sensing weakness, Kanit fired a bet of 10,700, quickly eliciting a fold from his opponent.

No Chance He Has It!

Nível 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

On a heads-up turn at table 553, Noah Schwartz and Anthony Reategui were battling it out once again on a board that read 8105A.

Reategui had led out for 6,000 and Schwartz made the call to see the 10 on the river.

"Rainbow!" Reategui announced as he tossed out one chip of each denomination (1 green, 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 purple, 1 black), totaling 31,600.

Schwartz then went deep into the tank, visibly distraught.

"Ughh, it's just been one of those days," he sighed, "I float for the ace and I hit and I just get the worst river... I would call but the bet is so huge..."

After a minute or so of this, he finally tossed his cards in and the pot was pushed over to Reategui.

"Which ten would you like to see?" he asked Schwartz

"No chance!" Another player said, highly skeptical that Reategui could possibly have quads. But sure enough, he then flipped over 1010 for the stone-cold nuts and Schwartz was just left shaking his head.

"Wow, now I'm freerolling, that second ten saved me money. I was drawing dead the whole way!"

On board reading 7865, David Short made a bet of around 8,000 from late position — and was called by Yannick Schumacher in the big blind.

Field Faces an Overbet

Nível 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

The action was picked up in a three-way pot where the board read 995. The small blind checked and Joshua Field checked in the big blind. Action was on late position who put out a bet of 2,000. The small blind called and Field then opted to put in a check-raise to 6,500. Late position called and the small blind called.

The turn brought a J and action surprisingly checked through. The river was a A and action once again checked to late position who thought for about a minute before putting in an overbet to the tune of 22,800. The small blind folded and Field went into the tank.

After about two minutes Field flicked in a chip. The late position player said "I have a flush" and tabled 43. Field quickly tabled J9 for flopped trips and a turned full house. Field would drag a healthy pot to chip up in Day 1.
