Badziakouski Gets a Fold

Nível 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Mikita Badziakouski raised to 800 from middle position and was three-bet to 2,400 by the player in the hijack. Action folded back around to Badziakouski, who called.

Both players checked on the 5JA flop; however, Badziakouski led out for 6,000 when the 4 came on the turn and his opponent quickly folded.

Badziakouski, who won his first WSOP bracelet back in 2019, hasn't been able to build much momentum today and currently sits with 45,000.

Sam Soverel
Sam Soverel

Sam Soverel spent Monday night playing in one of the live high-stakes cash games to which he is accustomed. At the same time, he was taking to the virtual felt under the name “ApesSonIMHO,” again competing against some of poker’s elite on WSOP.com.

Two days later, it ended in a second World Series of Poker bracelet for the Florida native. Soverel prevailed over a field of 408 total entries and defeated Hungary’s Gergely Kulcsar heads-up at the live final table of Online Event #13: $5,300 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller Championship to capture the $393,516 top prize and another piece of coveted gold jewelry.

Top Pair For Jiang

Nível 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Phillip Hayes opened to 1,100 from under the gun and received a call from Pin Jiang in middle position. "I call", shouted Luiz Chavez in the hijack, who was the last player who joined the hand.

On the flop J73, Hayes continued to 2,200, and both Jiang and Chavez called. But on the turn 6, action slowed down as all three players checked.

The river was the 2, and Hayes checked once more. Jiang bet 2,700, a move action that made Chavez fold. Hesitant for a few seconds, Hayes called, but he mucked his cards when Jiang revealed AJ.

Johnson Risks it All

Nível 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
David Johnson
David Johnson

Action was picked up on the turn with players heads up and the board reading J6J10. With about 30,000 in the pot David Johnson had moved all in from the button for his last 43,000, sending his opponent in early position deep into the tank.

After about two minutes the player in early position folded and Johnson triumphantly showed AK for a bluff to scoop the pot.

Johnson Defends the Blind

Nível 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

The player in the cutoff raised to 1,000 and Charles Johnson in the big blind called. The flop came out 539 and the cutoff placed his bet of 800 and Johnson made the call after he checked.

The cutoff kept up the aggression on the turn Q and Johnson was still sticking around.

On the river 10, the cutoff bet 10,500 and again Johnson called. The cutoff showed AQ for top pair and Johnson tabled 109 for two pair.

Blumstein Joins The Fray

Nível 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

The 2017 Main Event winner Scott Blumstein was three-ways on a J62 flop from under the gun. The player in the big blind checked to him and Blumstein checked as well. The third player in early position bet 1,200 and only Blumstein called.

Both players checked on the 5 turn, but then Blumstein bet a paltry 700 on the 2 river. It was enough to get a fold, however, and Blumstein chipped up.

Counting Blumstein, there are currently five former Main Event champions in the field including Ryan Riess (2013), Joe McKeehen (2015), Koray Aldemir (2021), and Espen Jorstad (2022).

Matusow Gets Respect in Multiway Action

Nível 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

A player in early position opened to 1,200 and received calls from Mike Matusow in the hijack, a player in the cutoff, a player on the button and a player in the big blind.

The flop came 752. Action checked around to Matusow who bet 2,200, receiving a call only from the player in the cutoff.

Matusow fired again on the K turn and after about a minute of deliberation the cutoff folded, allowing Matusow to drag in a sizable pot.

Saliba Stumps Schulman

Nível 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Vivian Saliba
Vivian Saliba

On a heads-up turn of J637, Vivian Saliba checked to Nick Schulman on her left who then bet 3,000.

After thinking for a few seconds, Saliba then check-raised him to 6,500, which made Schulman look puzzled but he made the call anyways to see the Q on the river.

Saliba then announced a bet of 14,000 and this made Schulmann look extremely puzzled, shaking his head multiple times and looking around the room for some kind of sign. He evently tossed his cards into the middle at which point Saliba asked if he wanted to see and he then flipped over her cards to expose 44 for a whopping pair of fours to win here the pot.
