Joao Vieira

While players in the Main Event of the World Series of Poker are fighting on Day 6 to be in the top 100, some of the best players who have been eliminated will gather in Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas to play Event #84: $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold'em.

At the beginning of the 2023 WSOP, Leon Sturm came out on top of the first $50,000 High Roller of the summer, for his first bracelet and $1,546,024. Last year, it was Joao Vieira who finished first in this event, outlasting a field of 107 entries. Thanks to his victory, the Portuguese player won his second bracelet and a career-high score of $1,384,415.

This year, Vieira may be unable to defend his title as he is currently the chip leader at the beginning of Day 3 of the $25,000 H.O.R.S.E. High Roller. Fortunately for him, late registration for this event remains open until the start of Day 2.

For those who play on Day 1, the cards will be in the air at 2 p.m. All players will receive 300,000 chips to start and if their stack goes down to zero, a single reentry is allowed. They will play 12 levels of 40 minutes each, with a 15-minute break every 3 levels.

Those who bag chips at the end of the day will come back on Thursday, July 13, at 1 p.m. PDT for Day 2, where the goal will be to play down to five players. Then, a winner will be crowned on Day 3, Friday, July 14.

Follow along with the PokerNews live reporting team from the first raise until the final chip has been bagged on Day 1.

Jensen Makes Dimov Fold On The River

Nível 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Ognyan Dimov opened to 6,000 from under the gun after the dealer flashed the K. Steven Miranda and Kristen Foxen folded, and Gregory Jensen in the small blind called. The big blind was absent, so his hand went into the muck.

On 677, Dimov made a continuation bet of 4,000, and Jensen check-called. The turn 8 brought no more action as both players checked.

The Q landed on the river and Jensen immediately looked at his stack and touched his chips to prepare a bet. He took two chips from his pile for a total of 26,000 and threw them in front of him. On the other side of the table, Dimov folded.

Foxen Chips Up Early; More New Arrivals

Kristen Foxen

Kristen Foxen limped her small blind and Bill Klein checked his option. The flop rolled AKJ and both players tapped the table, peeling the 9. Foxen then tossed out a red chip for a 5,000 and Klein quickly folded.

Just moments before this hand, Klein saw Chris Brewer enter the field and he said, "Him, I want to play with that guy. He only won two bracelets so far this summer."

All in jest, or maybe not, Brewer asked Klein to keep his chips fresh for him.

Plenty of competitors have joined the ranks and a third table has been opened up.

Vogelsang Takes From Hall

Nível 2 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

After he was eliminated in 24th place from the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em earlier in the Day, Galen Hall was in the cutoff when he called an open by Christoph Vogelsang in early position.

Damian Salas in the small blind called too, and all three of them discovered a 346 flop. But they all decided to check.

On the turn 3, Salas checked and Vogelsang took 20 seconds out of the 30 allowed by the shot clock to bet 15,000. Hall took the same time to call and Salas folded.

The river card was the Q and Vogelsang added 32,000 more chips in the pot. Hall gave up at this point and folded.

Green Three-Bet On The Flop

Nível 2 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Lewis Spencer opened to 6,000 from under the gun, and was called by both players in the blinds.

But on 3310, Spencer couldn't make a continuation bet as Brian Green in the small blind took the lead and bet 7,500. Kristen Foxen in the big blind folded.

Not impressed, Spencer raised to 19,000. But when the action came back to Green, he prepared his chips to three-bet to 47,500. It was too much for Spencer, who decided to fold.
