Matthew Shihadeh open-jammed from under the gun for 980,000 and action folded to Jinhua Li in the big blind who took over a minute to make the under-call for 745,000.

Shihadeh was puzzled why it took so long for Li to make the call. Li hit a king in the window of the K♥Q♠2♦10♦A♥ board for a set and took the pot leaving Shihadeh with four big blinds.

The very next hand Ronald Swain raised to 225,000 from middle position and Li made the call in the small blind. Shihadeh moved all in for 235,000. The other two committed players threw in the extra 10,000.

Li and Swain checked down to the river on the board of 9♥7♠2♥10♦Q♠. Li tabled Q♦10♠ to take down the pot after Swain revealed they had A♠Q♥. Shihadeh headed to the exit shellshocked for $14,922.

Icke's Wife Arrives Just in Time

David Icke had made it clear to his tablemates that he was waiting for his wife to arrive before moving all in.

"Is Louisa here yet," he asked as action was on him.

"Is that a tell," a tablemate said before Icke did move all in but got no callers.

His wife then arrived on the rail and they shared a high five and clapped their hands together. "Next time you're all in you're going to get crushed," Icke was told by his table.

"Hey Louisa, I'm all in," Icke told his wife before he again moved in, this time for 1,325,000. Robert Damelian on the button asked for a count before calling.

Whalen Gets Paid With a Set

Robert Whalen raised to 200,000 in middle position and was called by Richard Wallace next to act.

The flop came Q♥5♣6♠ and Whalen continued for 150,000. Wallace called and both players checked the 7♦ turn.

The river came the 2♠ and Whalen now tossed out 600,000. Wallace quickly called and Whalen turned over Q♣Q♠ for the flopped set. Wallace flashed two tens before mucking.

Negreanu Proposes Changes to the Poker Hall of Fame Induction Process

With its ever-growing backlog of deserving players and industry professionals waiting for their time to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame, some players are calling for changes to the nomination and induction process.

One of those players is Daniel Negreanu, poker's biggest ambassador and himself a member of the Poker Hall of Fame who was inducted in 2014. Negreanu has long called for overhauls to the Poker Hall of Fame nomination process and renewed his calls this week on his daily vlog during the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP).

"How I would fix the Hall of Fame is this: every single year, two players get in — players, not contributors," Negreanu told his vlog viewers. "Every single year, two players get in. Every third year ... we add an additional third person who is a contributor to the game. That would be the Isai Scheinbergs and the Matt Savages of the world. Every three years, one of them would get in. That way, we don't have to constantly compare apples to oranges."

"Why did I rub your tummy? You mean I could've just pet the dog," Pamela Belote said after noticing the dog from another table.

"That gentleman must have misplayed the dog's hand. It's a well-trained dog. It doesn't make mistakes," another player added.
