Chung Back into the Lead

Christopher Chung has regained the lead in what is becoming an epic back-and-forth affair.

Chung raised the button and John Monnette called. Each player drew two.

Monnette then check-called a bet and each player then drew one.

After another check from Monnette, Chung bet once more, and Monnette opted to fold and not continue on to the big bet rounds.

Monnette Pulls Ahead Once More

After the first draw Chung checked, Monnette bet and Chung made it two bets. Monnette made the call and both players drew one.

Action checked around after the second draw and drew one. Chung then check-called a final bet from Monnette, who tabled 8x7x5x3x2x for the winner to once again take the lead from Chung.

Chung Regaining Control, But Monnette Battling

John Monnette raised and got called by Christopher Chung before Chung drew two and Monnette took three.

Chung led with a bet and got a call from Monnette. Chung drew one while Monnette needed two.

Chung bet again and got another call. This time Chung patted, while Monnette needed one.

Chung checked the final betting round and Monnette checked back to see Chung's 8x7x5x4x2x for a winner.

Shortly after that, Monnette was down to two million chips again and checked after Chung limped his button.

The players each drew three and Monnette checked. Chung raised and Monnette called to go to the next draw.

Monnette stood pat while Chung needed a card. Monnette then bet, leaving 450,000 behind, and got a call from Chung.

Monnette patted the final draw and Chung drew one. Monnette then placed that final 450,000 forward, but Chung couldn't call it, showing 8x8x, having paired his eight on the final draw.

Monnette Nearly Back to Even

After the first draw Chung bet and Monnette called. Chung drew one and Monnette drew two.

Action repeated itself after the second draw with Monnette calling a bet from Chung. This time both players stood pat and checked with no draws remaining.

"Nine" Chung said, to which Monnette replied "Keep going".

Chung said "Eight" and again Monnette told his opponent to keep going.

"Seven" Chung stated at which point Monnette tabled 9x8x6x4x2x for nine-eight-six, enough to beat Chung's nine-eight-seven. Monnette scooped a huge pot and is now close to even against his opponent.

Chung Can't Finish Off Monnette

John Monnette has been all in with Christopher Chung a card away from winning the tournament a couple of times since leaving Monnette with less than one big bet, but Monnette has survived.

First after the final draw, Monnette fanned 9x8x6x5x2x versus Chung's 7x6x3x2x, but Chung drew a Qx to send a small double-up to Monnette.

Then, after Monnette was all-in on the final draw with 1,250,000 committed through the four betting rounds, he again stood pat while Chung drew one.

Monnette showed Jx5x4x3x2x against Chung's 8x7x4x3x, but Chung this time drew a Kx to double up the four-time bracelet winner again, as he continues to battle to win his first WSOP bracelet.

After John Monnette raised, Christopher Chung made it three bets to go before Monnette made it four. Chung called at that point and the duo went to the first draw.

Chung drew one while Monnette stood pat. The players checked and then each of them stood pat.

Chung came out with a bet after the second draw which Monnette called, and they each patted their hands again.

Following that final draw, Chung fired out another bet and Monnette reluctantly folded his hand to send a three to one chip lead to Chung.

After Monnette raised and Chung called, Chung drew three, while Monnette drew one.

Chung then check-called a bet from Monnette and drew two, while Monnette stood pat.

Chung check-called another bet and then drew one against Monnette's still pat hand.

Monnette then insta-called a bet from Chung, who led out after the final draw.

"Nine" said Chung, as Monnette fanned his 8x7x4x3x2x for the winner.

"I knew I didn't like that insta-call," said Chung as his chips were pushed to Monnette.
