A total of 84,000 chips go from Pascal Leyo to David Williams when the latter has A♦A♠4♥3♠ for a set of aces and the nut low on the A♥6♣2♥J♥8♠ board, which beat the A♣9♠7♣3♥ of Leyo.
Steve Chanthabouasy tried to knock out Paul Zappulla when he got it in with the A♣Q♣5♣2♣ on the A♥10♦3♥ flop for Zappulla to look him up holding with the A♦A♠K♥10♥ for the top set. Chanthabouasy needed a four to scoop but the 5♠ turn and 8♠ river gave him a live eight for the low to chop, at least.
Several players have dropped into the danger zone including Yuri Dzivielevski, while Johannes Becker leaped into the lead with two scoops on his table.
Over on table 144, Dan Shak also had a short stack behind in three-way action when he bet the 10♠9♦9♣ flop. Robert Yass folded and Nacho Barbero called. They checked down the 6♠ turn and 7♣ river as Shak announced aces, exposing the A♣A♥4♣3♠.
"You win," Barbero declared and checked his cards again ... then said with a dry voice "oh wait, I have a straight" while sliding the cards into the muck.
"Where are my aces, everybody else gets them but I don't," Sam Farha begrudgingly inquired as he, too, had become a short stack.
On the impending bubble, James Chen (Taiwan) picked up a pot in four-way action while fellow namesake and US citizen James Chen leaped into the lead. The same table also featured a full scoop for James Obst with A♣A♥8♥4♠ on the A♠7♣2♥10♥Q♥ board with the nut flush and eight-low against Jason Daly.
Chen then bet the four-way flop of 8♦4♥4♠ flop while on the button with Chen in the small blind check-calling, Ben Lamb check-folded in the big blind and Daly stuck around as well. The three-way turn of 3♣ was checked to the button and his bet then earned two folds.
The action picked up on the turn in a hand between Craig Chait and Pascal Leyo. The board read K♠3♦J♣, and Leyo called a bet from Chait.
Chait bet out on the Q♥ river and was subsequently raised by Leyo. This put Chait in the tank, as he announced he held a very "key card." Leyo offered him the opportunity to pick two cards to see from his hand if he folded, but Chait wanted to see all four and made the call.
Leyo tabled A♠A♣2♠10♠ for an ace-high straight, and Chait mucked, revealing he had ten nine for a king-high straight.
John Hennigan bet the turn and river of a 8♦5♦3♠9♥7♠ board when checked to, and Damjan Radanov called. Steve Chanthabouasy was also involved in the action as well and tanked for a long time on the river before he came along.
Hennigan tabled the 7♥6♦3♣3♠ for a straight to win the high pot, while Radanov won the low with the A♣10♣9♣2♥ as Chanthabouasy mucked to get very short once more.
In the meanwhile, Kyle Ray earned three quarters against Johannes Becker with a check-call on the 6♣2♣2♠7♦Q♥ river. Ray tabled the A♥7♠5♣2♦ for a full house to win the high and half the low, as Becker only had A♦9♠5♥2♥.
Ben Lamb bet the Q♠9♠6♣ flop when checked to by James Chen (US), and they headed to the 2♦ on the turn. Chen now check-raised for Lamb to call before leading the K♦ on the river. Lamb raised and received a call to turn over his K♥J♣10♣8♥ for the nut straight to earn the entire pot.
In four-way action to the K♠J♦10♥Q♦ turn, the action checked to Bryce Yockey, and he bet to force folds.
One table over, three-way action came around to the J♣4♥2♥9♦6♦ river, and James Chen saw his stack reduced, as James Obst earned three quarters with the A♣9♠6♥3♣ for nines and sixes on top of his nut low. Yarron Bendor only chopped the low with the A♥Q♠4♠3♠, and that pulled Chen into the danger zone on the stone-cold money bubble.
