Rees Keeps Firing

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

David Rees was in the big blind and called a preflop raise from an opponent on the button as they went heads-up to a {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop.

Rees checked over to his opponent who threw out 1,000 before Rees raised to 2,000. The button called, then called another bet by Rees of 2,700 on the {10-Spades} turn.

The river came the {5-Hearts} and Rees fired out another 6,000. His opponent shot a quick glance over at him before flicking in the call. Rees showed {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for the turned straight and his opponent mucked.

Garcia Forces Fold

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

On a heads-up turn board of {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs}, Daniel Garcia was in early position when he bet 3,700 into his late positioned opponent, who called.

The river {9-Diamonds} saw Garcia fire once more, this time for 6,400, and after several moments, his opponent laid it down.

Kim Nearly Eliminates Opponent

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

With roughly 30,000 in the pot on a {q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} completed board, a player jammed in the big blind, and Brian Kim snap-called for his 41,700 chips on the button.

Kim tabled {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for the nuts, while his opponent held {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a set.

"Oh my god, I'm out," said the big blind in disbelief. A count showed Kim had slightly fewer chips and his opponent was still in with under five big blinds, although likely not for long, while Kim secured the early double.

Filatov Loses a Chunk

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

On a board reading {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Diamonds} Anatoly Filatov in late position was involved in a hand with a player in middle position. The middle position player checked and then called after Filatov bet 7,000 into a pot of around 8,500.

The {7-Spades} river saw the middle position player take over the betting lead, firing off 16,000. Filatov, after some consideration, made the call and was shown {a-Spades}{10-Spades} by his opponent for the rivered flush, a hand the Russian pro could not beat, sending him sliding down the chip counts.

Kushner's Kings Hold

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Action was picked up with 1,700 in the pot and a flop of {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} on the table. The under-the-gun player led out for 1,100. Jeff Kushner, on the button, raised to 3,000 after a minute or so of thought. His opponent nonchalantly snap-called.

On the {5-Clubs} turn, the opponent checked to Kushner, who tossed in a bet of 5,000. The opponent snap-called again.

The {3-Spades} river was checked through. Kushner showed {k-Hearts}{k-} for an overpair, while his opponent showed {j-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, good for top pair, but not enough for the pot, which went to Kushner.

Qui Nguyen and Ryan Riess
Qui Nguyen and Ryan Riess

Players at a Bally's red table might have pulled one of the most difficult Day 1 table draws in Main Event history.

Sitting right next to each other are 2016 Main Event Champion Qui Nguyen and 2013 Main Event Champion Ryan Riess. A few seats down is three-time bracelet winner Justin Bonomo.

One table over sits Martin Jacobson, the 2014 Main Event Champion.

Three former champions sit within 15 feet of each other. Players around them may not have known what they were signing up for today.

Kim's Flopped Flush Takes a Chunk Off Affleck

Nível 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

Matt Affleck reraised to 5,000 from the big blind and was called by an opponent in middle position and C.T. Kim in the small blind.

All three players checked the {2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{k-Hearts} flop before Affleck fired out 5,500 on the {4-Hearts} turn. Only Kim called.

The river was the {3-Spades} and Kim checked over to Affleck for a third time. Affleck took his time before tapping the felt as Kim showed {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for the flopped flush.

Affleck, who has made a few memorable deep runs in the Main Event in the past, mucked his hand and has lost nearly a third of his stack here on the first level.

Johnnie Moreno
Johnnie Moreno

There was a raise to 500 from early position and the cutoff called.

The action was on Johnnie "Vibes" Moreno and he made it 3,000 to go from the big blind.

The early position player came back over the top to 10,000 and both the cutoff and Moreno let it go.

He is still a little over starting stack in the early going.
