Benny Glaser {k-Spades}{5-Spades} raised to 275,000 on the button. Dan Cates called in the big blind.

The {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop gave Glaser trips and Cates checked to the British player who bet 175,000.

Cates check-raised to 350,000 before Glaser three-bet to 850,000.

Cates then four-bet to 1,350,000 and Glaser called.

The pair then checked down the {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} board and Glaser took down the pot.

Benny Glaser raised on the button to 300,000 with the {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and Johannes Becker called all-in for 75,000 with the {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, Yuri Dzivielevski called from the big blind with the {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

On the {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Dzivielevski check-folded when Glaser bet and the miracle comeback of story required Becker to hit a ten. Nothing happened on the {2-Diamonds} turn and the {4-Diamonds} river sent the German mixed game specialist to the rail in 5th place for a payday of $343,531.

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo

Benny Glaser: {j-Spades}{7-Clubs} / {j-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Spades} / {k-Hearts}

Dan Cates folded pocket tens in the hole while Naoya Kihara completed and then called a raise by Benny Glaser. It was Glaser who bet his lead on fourth and received a call. Glaser then check-called fifth street and did so again on sixth street.

Glaser checked seventh street on which Kihara completed his flush and bet. After some consideration, Glaser sigh-called and was scooped as Kihara boosted his short stack.

Right after the hand was over, the players went on a very short colour up break but the action will resume shortly.

Benny Glaser raised with the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} in the hijack and Johannes Becker on the cutoff three-bet with the {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. Yuri Dzivielevski four-bet with the {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} as both opponents called. The flop came {k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Dzivielevski bet, Glaser raised and Becker was the only caller.

The {9-Hearts} followed on the turn and Glaser bet once more as Becker stuck around. They headed to the {j-Clubs} on the river and checked it down eventually for Glaser to win another pot, extending his lead further.

Four Opponents Stand Between Dan Cates and Repeat Victory in $50,000 Poker Players Championship

Benny Glaser

Five WSOP gold bracelet winners aim to add another major title to their resume and claim the highly sought-after prize in Event #56: $50,000 Poker Players Championship. None other than the defending champion Dan Cates leads the pack and has the chance to become the third player to earn multiple victories in the Main Event of the mixed game players.

The poker icon enters the final day as the chip leader after securing the double knockout of Koray Aldemir and Taylor Paur in the final hand of Day Four in Pot-Limit Omaha. That boosted his stack to 9,075,000 and he leapfrogged four-time WSOP bracelet winner Benny Glaser (8,260,000) as well as two-time champion Yuri Dzivielevski (7,535,000) on the leaderboard.

The five-handed final table includes another two international contenders in the 2017 PPC runner-up Johannes Becker (5,470,000) and Japan's mixed game specialist Naoya Kihara (3,265,000) in what shapes up to be an epic showdown on the Thunderdome feature table in the Bally's Event Center.

All finalists out of an 112-entry strong field have secured a payday of $343,531 so far but all eyes are on the illustrious WSOP gold bracelet and the top prize worth $1,449,103 as the lion's share of the $5,362,000 will be distributed today.

So far, only players from the United States and United Kingdom have seen their names engraved in the Chip Reese Memorial trophy thus far but the odds are high that a third country may be added to the list.

It is expected that Cates will make a big entrance for this final table. In 2021, he came with a special costume and also did so for Day 1 of the current edition as well. Furthermore, he also kept his 2021 PPC bracelet at the table at all times so far and has certainly shown a lot of confidence ahead of the grand finale.
