Two Knockouts in a Row for Cowen; Redraw Immiment

Nível 18 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Robert Cowen
Robert Cowen

Robert Cowen dragged in half the pot of Krasimir Yankov when he defended the big blind and rivered a full house with the {q-}{j-}{10-}{7-} on a {q-Spades}{7-}{6-Spades}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades} board on which Yankov paid off 225,000 on the river.

He then knocked out Yankov to bring the field down to the last 25 and shortly after, the next short stack ended up all-in against the Brit and that happened to be Christopher Trang.

Christopher Trang: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Robert Cowen: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}

The {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} board gave Cowen kings full and he continued his hot run to reduce the field to the final 24 contenders. They will now be redrawing to the final three tables.

Small Pots After the Restart

Nível 18 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

On the tail end of a heads-up pot between Chance Kornuth and Ap Garza, the board showed {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Kornuth bet small and Garza called to get shown the {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} by Kornuth, which he had beat with the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}.

Two tables over, Jared Bleznick raised to 60,000 and Aaron Katz called on the button, Duarte Baptista defended the big blind. The {k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop was checked to Bleznick and he continued for 135,000. Katz got out of the way but Baptista had other plans. He used a time bank extension and then check-raised to 450,000 in order to force a fold from Bleznick.

Beauprez Can't Hold with Aces

Nível 19 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Dash Dudley raised to 70,000 in middle position and John Beauprez ripped all in for around 100,000 in the big blind. Dudley instantly called and Beauprez was at risk but with the best hand.

John Beauprez: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Dash Dudley: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The flop came {j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Beauprez was in a great position to double up. However, the {6-Spades} on the turn and the {4-Spades} on the river gave Dudley a runner-runner flush and Beauprez was eliminated.

Karakitukov Hits a Boat With Little Value

Nível 19 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Joni Jouhkimainen raised from the hijack to pick up calls from Josh Arieh on the button and Veselin Karakitukov out of the big blind. On the {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop, only Karakitukov check-called a bet worth 85,000 by Jouhkimainen. They then checked it down on the {4-Diamonds} turn and {4-Spades} river.

Karakitukov turned over the {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for a full house and won the rather small pot.

Rast Gets Value From Kempton

Nível 19 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Only Isaac Kempton paid off a bet worth 85,000 by Brian Rast on the {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{j-Hearts} turn and then checked again the {9-Hearts} on the river. Rast bet 240,000 and Kempton used two time bank extensions before making the call.

The {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} of Rast for the nut straight won the pot, sending Kempton below half a million.

Big Stacks Battle

Nível 19 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

It was a five-way limped pot and the dealer spread the flop of {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}. Aaron Mermelstein led out with a bet of 125,000 from the small blind and only Joni Jouhkimainen called from the big blind.

The turn was the {j-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {5-Hearts} on the river. Mermelstein splashed in another bet of 150,000 and Jouhkimainen deliberated before sliding out a raise to what looked like 710,000. Mermelstein instantly pitched his cards to the muck and Jouhkimainen raked in the pot.

Arieh Left on Fumes After Doubling Katz

Nível 19 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, the completed board showed {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and Aaron Katz was paid off for 365,000 against Josh Arieh. The former tabled the {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the flopped wheel and that beat the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} of Arieh, who was left with very few chips after he had flopped the top pair and then turned the world with an additional gutshot and the nut flush draw.
